I need some design inspo from you all. This is my hallway, we have panelled and painted the walls, just have the skirtings, doors and architrave to paint in eggshell and the stairs to paint in Mouses Back before my stair runner is installed. But im struggling on decor. I want a stained glass lamp and a half moon console but I feel im missing something? Hit me up with suggestions please 🙏 xx

Here is a little glimpse as to what it is like to live in a renovation, with the constant cleanup and bright ideas . Moving from one project to another while waiting on trades to finish their stuff so the project doesn't stall.
All the while trying to stay positive that it will all be worth it 🫣🤪

When we viewed this house, it was the hallway and original flooring that sealed it for me. Despite it being neglected and untouched in decades, I knew with some TLC we could restore this to its former glory ourselves... with the help of YouTube haha. With a bit of luck, the flooring extended into the under stairs cloak room. So we were able to lift that up carefully and fill the patch at the front door which housed a doormat from when this house was a doctors surgery. We sanded, sanded and sanded some more! We then glued loose blocks after sanding off the original tar based glue, ripped up the border around the doormat, and laid the spare blocks to continue the herringbone pattern. After all of that we sealed the gaps by using the sawdust from the 2nd sanding and some gorilla wood glue (we couldn't use the first sanding sawdust as it was full of varnish and muck from over the years). And then of course, sanded again 😂. All thats left to do is give it a final sand once the hallway is fully decorated and seal it with a light oak varnish. For DIY amateurs I think we did this flooring justice 😊

So I thought I would introduce ourselves, I'm Gemma, and my husband AJ and I along with our 3 kids and 2 dogs sold our house, and bought our forever family home in December 2025 (moved in 6 days before christmas 🙈). If you enjoy having a nose at renovation projects then this will be right up your street! As this house was originally a small Dr's surgery that has not been updated in decades, with original parquet flooring and features, which we are preserving. Still has the bay window patient seating area.
However we are not professionals, and I think this house will test our marriage (AJ just needs to share my vision 😂). So here's a reel of my family, and a few pictures of the house 🏠.
We have been very busy the last 5 weeks and can't wait to share what has been done.
