Now booking Somatic Wayfinding sessions (90-min) October & November, and I have just 3 spots open for Self-Liberation Mentorship between now and the end of the year.

It’s NEVER too late to transition (or to make any big change in your life), but if you had self-expression goals for 2026 and find yourself still stuck/frozen, in a shame spiral, or procrastinating, maybe one of these spots is meant to be yours.

Booking link is in bio, or DM me 🫶🏼

Hi! I’m Oliver 👋🏻 Here’s a bit about who I am and how being my authentic self has been the biggest game-changer …

I’m a somatic coach, yoga teacher, lifelong dancer, movement artist, Sagittarius♐️, manifesting generator & 🏳️‍🌈 neurodivergent human. I have always had BIG feelings and cared deeply and my greatest wish and greatest fear is to be seen as who I really am. So Instagram is basically like my personal demon-confronting arena 🥲😅

But through my somatic work, I’m creating a place where feeling seen and being truly known becomes possible for me — and for you too, I hope 💛

A lot of my practice this year has been around living authentically, and being the most ‘ME’ I’ve ever been.

Here’s what I’ve learned:
- Figuring out what IS authentic is a process of un-covering, unmasking, and returning to an inner self that has been inside all along, rather than a journey of discovery or “finding yourself”
- Vulnerability is a prerequisite. Dare greatly and do the scary thing anyway
- The more centered in myself I am, the more connected I feel to my community (nature included 🌿). Having the inner focus clear makes it possible to expand further outward without losing yourself.
- Mentors and guides who push you just a *little bit* further than you’d push yourself are more valuable than gold
- Being your authentic self can bring the greatest sense of EASE into your life.

If this intrigues you, if we have something in common, or if you’re on this messy & beautiful journey too, let me know in the comments! by @theoliverphoenix

Somatic work is a vast, beautiful landscape — full of different paths and practices that connect us to our bodies in deep, meaningful ways. But to me, it’s important that you know where I walk, what roots ground me, and the lived experiences that shape the way I guide others in somatic practices.

When you work with me, you’re not just getting a coach. You’re meeting a person who’s been shaped by both struggle and joy, by life’s sorrows and its sweetness. My approach to somatic work isn’t just a set of tools; it’s rooted in the philosophies, teachings, and real-life experiences that have helped me grow, heal, and become the guide, friend, and coach I am today.

And if you’re curious about what it’s like to work together, or whether I’m the right fit for you, I want you to get to know me, to feel like you’re stepping into something that resonates — a space where we can be whole, authentic, and grounded.

I have a couple spots open for one-on-one coaching sessions. If you’re interested in working together to re-awaken your relationship with sensations, feeling, and your body this winter, send me a DM. 💌

It’s not a “trick” 👉🏼

You have to practice with your nervous system to feel safe enough in your body to express who you really are and have it feel like freedom.

Nothing like I imagined and everything I ever dreamed of, pretty much! What a gift it is to be myself more wholly and fully every day 🏳️‍⚧️

the first video was taken on my birthday in 2021. I tried on they/them pronouns for the first time that summer; spending time with other nonbinary & trans people felt like a direct mirror into my own being and made it possible for me to recognize and own my own truth and feel safe exploring and expressing it for the first time.

Hard to believe it’s been 5 years now of knowing myself more deeply, coming home to who I’ve always been within and living and becoming my true self. Proud of every version of me that’s gotten me here.

🏳️‍⚧️ Visibility is everything. But…

My nervous system still feels activated every time before I post. I’m proud of who I am. I live my life authentically and show up in my work, my relationships, and the world as the truest version of me. 🥹

Something about sharing on the internet though — brings up every old pattern of staying small, keeping quiet, learning that when I spoke my truth, somebody would make their own closed-mindedness and discomfort about me. So of course my nervous system still has the urge to freak out!

The difference between then and now is — I’ve spent a long time on this inner journey of becoming. I can hear that part of myself who is still afraid. And instead of letting this rule my life, I support myself with resources. I do a pranayama practice. I use all my somatic tools. I see a therapist who can hold space for me, the way I hold space for others.

And this week, I’m sharing an insight that I hope might help you too. Before you post, when you start to feel that churning in your gut and the urge to chuck your phone across the room, try this:

1. Ask yourself: Am I thinking about who I know that might have a negative reaction to this post? Am I still adjusting my voice to speak in rooms that I KNOW are too small for me or that I know will not receive what I’m sharing well? If so, why?

2. Instead, can I bring to mind ONE specific person who I think might really need to hear this today? What am I losing by staying silent? What are they?

3. If neither of these are really working for you — return to yourself: can I post this just for ME? Because I have experienced times where sharing something feels like relief after, not anxiety or fear. Maybe the act of sharing will relieve the internal pressure, because if I’ve written/recorded something, it WANTS to be shared. Can I share it for that part of myself?

So many feelings it’s impossible to put it into words right now — but I’m feeling them. And it’s beautiful and exciting and tender (and a little bit scary) 🥹

Being with my body so my body is well-resourced for recovery, on a nervous system level as well as a physical tissue-and-stitches one. ❤️‍🩹

Now it’s time to trust, and take the next leap that brings my heart, body, and soul into greater alignment 🏳️‍⚧️

Drop me some support emojis in the comments? 🙏🏼

Calling these ~somatic field notes~ as I take you with me on the journey to get top surgery as a transmasc somatic practitioner and yoga teacher.

observations from this week:

I’ve solidly moved into doing more mobility & fascia practices, not going hard on strength or muscle-building work at this point.

I haven’t been using KT tape or binding for 2 months to support my tissue health & elasticity. It has made me feel more dysphoric than usual and kind of sucks, but if it gives me a better chance/outcome for peri-areolar (which my surgeon has recommended, but I won’t know for sure until consult day 4 days before surgery), it’s worth it.

I’ve been going to more restorative and yin yoga classes than usual, and I really notice a difference in my nervous system state, especially after the restorative classes. It makes me excited to put together some classes when I’m a few weeks into recovery and not cleared for active movement yet!

I confirmed a few things about my visa today (WHY is Thailand making changes right now - love the timing), and selected my meal for my flight. It’s really happening!!

Follow along - I’ll be sharing a new Top Surgery Field Notes video least once a week.

I’m pretty sure Patanjali wasn’t thinking of applying “consistent practice” to posting consistently on Instagram 🤔🫠… but hey — how you do one thing is how you do everything 🤷🏻

Yoga philosophy & principles really do impact how I move through every area of life, not just in asana, or in a classroom. The deeper you go, the more there is to learn, and notice, and relate to in different ways.

How do you relate to abhyasa and vairagya in your life?

Immerse yourself in the divine 🤍 or simply be willing to be present in a moment with nature, and I’m quite sure that something like happiness will come. What place feels like happiness to you?

I spent the whole month of March in Rishikesh 🇮🇳 and I’m only now getting around to posting about it…

It’s taken a while for the lessons I learned there to integrate and settle into my bones, and I have a lot more to share!Follow for more yoga, meditative moments, and ecosomatics like this.

This year I’m really choosing joy, and love, and community. In spite of and because of it all - the ways we show up to care for ourselves and each other are more important than ever. 🥹

I just launched my fundraiser to help cover 50% of the costs of my top surgery in Thailand (I’m covering the other half myself, no insurance). 🔗 is in the usual spots.

This has been a long time coming - and after wanting this for years, 3 years of HRT, leaving the U.S. last January, and going through many, many rolls of trans/kt tape… I’m proud of the chest I’ve built through testosterone, a thousand chatturangas, and volunteering with bushfire season prep in regional Australia... AND I’m also very ready now to get the remaining freeloading bits off my chest. 😅

Four years ago I would have cringed, *hard*, to know I am publicly sharing a fundraiser and asking for financial support.

Today, I trust that this is just another way of being in community. When someone in my community asks me for support, I am honored and grateful I am being invited to show up for them, to support the big things in their life. I trust that receiving financial support can feel like care and not shame.🧡

Any amount you want to contribute to my top surgery recovery fund means the world to me. Your support means the world to me (sharing this post, or an Instagram DM counts, too!). Thank you for supporting trans people loudly and proudly. It matters. 🏳️‍⚧️ by @theoliverphoenix
