POSTS STORIES REELS

One Year Ago Today...
At Planet Comicon in Kansas City, I had the privilege of meeting the director for The Hunt for Gollum, Andy Serkis. I recounted my tale of becoming obsessed with the One Ring after finding a rusty replica at the bottom of a pool; being very intrigued by the ancient mysterious script on the band. A few years later when I watched the films and read the books, I would recognise the parallels my own story had with that of Sméagol. My obsession only grew and 12 years later I would have the exact Ring that appeared on screen. Andy was very shocked to hear such a unique tale of addiction for the Ring. He was absolutely lovely to chat with. He was kind enough to sign my Wētā Workshop maquette of Gollum and he held my Movie Ring as Gollum would. It was a rare reunion between actor and movie prop, and it was incredibly meaningful to witness. I can't wait to introduce my One Ring to more LotR icons soon!

"The forest is queer. Everything in it is very much more alive, more aware of what is going on."

"But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret, a master ring, to control all others. And into this ring he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. One ring to rule them all."

"...and at once his head was bowed to the ground with the weight of the Ring, as if a great stone had been strung on him. But slowly, as if the weight became less, or new strength grew in him, he raised his head, and then with a great effort got to his feet and found that he could walk and bear his burden."

"I sit beside the fire and think
Of all that I have seen
Of meadow flowers and butterflies
In summers that have been

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
In autumns that there were
With morning mist and silver sun
And wind upon my hair

I sit beside the fire and think
Of how the world will be
When winter comes without a spring
That I shall ever see

For still there are so many things
That I have never seen
In every wood in every spring
There is a different green

I sit beside the fire and think
Of people long ago
And people that will see a world
That I shall never know

But all the while I sit and think
Of times there were before
I listen for returning feet
And voices at the door"

"The Nine, the Seven, and the Three had each their proper gem. Not so the One. It was round and unadorned, as it were one of the lesser rings; but its maker set marks upon it that the skilled, maybe, could still see and read."

“He found himself wondering at times, especially in the autumn, about the wild lands, and strange visions of mountains that he had never seen came into his dreams. He began to say to himself: ‘Perhaps I shall cross the River myself one day.’ To which the other half of his mind always replied: ‘Not yet.’”

Wishing you all a very lovely October 🍁🍂
