Today we celebrate the life of Pat Steir.A true force in painting, and more importantly, a generous and deeply thoughtful human. We had the honor of spending time with Pat in her home, sitting down for a conversation with Mickalene Thomas, moderated by Jasmine Wahi. It was one of those rare moments that felt bigger than documentation. It felt like history unfolding in real time. There was no separation between the person and the practice. Just a life built around making. From an early age, she knew exactly what she was meant to do and she never wavered.Pat spoke with clarity, humor, and conviction. She reminded us that being an artist is not easy. It is something you do because you have to. As she put it, *“real life is hard, and you should only do it if you have to do it.”* She lived that truth fully. There was a generosity in the way she engaged with Mickalene, with the conversation, and with the world. A willingness to share, to reflect, and to push forward. There was also a sharp awareness of the realities artists, especially women, have always faced navigating this space. To sit with her was to understand that art is not something you chase. It is something you live. Something that shapes you over time, layered, patient, and inevitable. These are the moments THE OG exists to document. Conversations that connect generations. That preserve not just the work, but the thinking behind it.We are incredibly grateful she welcomed us in, trusted us with her story, and allowed us to document that moment. Thank you to Mickalene Thomas and Jasmine Wahi for helping shape such a powerful exchange, and to Kevin Claiborne for capturing it all so beautifully.Happy Birthday, Pat.Your voice, your work, and your spirit will continue to guide and inspire generations to come. by @theonline.gallery

ART PSA TO ALL OF OUR FOLLOWERS IN LAThe real March Madness starts now! The FINAL FOUR days to experience @tavaresstrachan’s exhibition The Day Tomorrow Began, currently on view at @lacma, are upon us.A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to receive a private walkthrough of Tavares’s first museum exhibition in Los Angeles, and words or images cannot fully capture the magnitude of this achievement. It is one of those exhibitions you need to experience in person. It stays with you. You leave knowing you witnessed something truly special. The show unfolds through a series of immersive environments, each one shifting your sense of place and perspective, from familiar spaces that feel slightly off to fields of rice grass dotted with ceramic figures and rooms anchored by monumental bronze works. Across mediums, Strachan explores what has been left out of dominant narratives, creating space for new ways of seeing and understanding. With only four days left, we highly recommend making the time to see it. Even more special for us, Tavares is our current cover artist. After experiencing the exhibition, feel free to pick up a copy of THE OG Issue 15 at the LACMA gift shop, featuring Tavares on the cover.Thank you again to Tavares for the time, generosity, and insight. A moment we will not forget. by @theonline.gallery
