it's a strange contradiction that so many people want to feel wanted but are afraid to make someone else feel wanted. we long for consistency but hesitate to initiate, desire affection but ration our own, and hope to be chosen while pretending we could take or leave the person in front of us.

somewhere along the way, protecting ourselves became more important than being present. i wonder how many meaningful connections have suffered because neither person wanted to be the first to care openly. by @theonlinebigbro

i’ve learned that peace doesn’t always come from being understood. sometimes it comes from realizing you don’t need to be. you can know your intentions, own your mistakes, correct what needs correcting, and still accept that someone may choose to remember you differently. their perception of you does not have to become your lifelong responsibility. by @theonlinebigbro

maybe healing is finally understanding that you cannot love someone into staying, sacrifice your way into being chosen, or become perfect enough to guarantee permanence. people have their own choices, fears, limitations and desires. all you can control is the kind of person you are when they stay, and the kind of person you become when they leave. by @theonlinebigbro

the older i get, the more i understand that privacy can be a form of reverence. some things are too tender, too unfinished, or too important to be placed in the hands of public opinion. not everything needs to be explained. some things just need to be lived, prayed over, and entrusted to God. by @theonlinebigbro
