Introducing a new expression of calm.

We’re unveiling the dark wood finish of the Iris Meditation Pod by OpenSeed - a deeper, more intimate take on our design language.

As a contrast to our natural wood finish, this edition pairs painted carbon tones with soft gradient grays, creating an interior that feels more elegant, more grounded, and incredibly cozy.

It’s a space designed to quiet the nervous system the moment you step in - subtle, refined, and intentionally immersive.

Same Iris experience.
A darker, warmer soul.

Just step in.

We are honored to have been featured in a Korean TV documentary alongside the great @jon.kabat.zinn who is credited with introducing MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction) to the the US back in the 70’s. Also featured in this documentary is our dear client @vhavets, our first hospital installation last year. Watch full segment - link in bio. by @theopenseed

As part of OpenSeed’s meditation experience, essential oils provide users with the ability to drop into the present moment before beginning their session.

Essential oils have long been recognized for their potential to help relax the mind. When inhaled or applied topically, these concentrated plant extracts can stimulate the olfactory system and influence the brain’s limbic system, which plays a key role in regulating emotions and stress responses. Aromatherapy with essential oils like lavender, chamomile, and frankincense can promote feelings of calm and tranquility, reducing anxiety and stress. The soothing scents of these oils can trigger a sense of well-being, encourage deep breathing, and alleviate tension, making them a popular and holistic choice for relaxation and mental wellness. by @theopenseed

A seed-shaped object often symbolizes rebirth due to its potential to sprout new life. It encapsulates the promise of growth, renewal, and transformation, embodying the cyclical nature of life cycles. The dormant seed holds the latent power for a fresh beginning, making it a potent symbol of hope and regeneration across various cultures and contexts.

When we practice meditation, we learn how to quiet the mind and access our innate powers to grow and create new realities that are nurtured through our intentions.

OpenSeed’s music and guided meditations integrate the meditative sounds of the handpan. The handpan, also known as hang drum, is often considered a meditative and hypnotizing instrument for several reasons:

1. Unique Sound and Tone - The handpan produces a distinctive, enchanting sound characterized by its warm and resonant tones. The combination of its metallic structure and the way it is played with the hands creates a unique sonic experience that captivates listeners.

2. Melodic and Harmonic Richness - Handpans are typically tuned to specific scales or modes, creating a melodic and harmonic richness. The instrument’s design allows for a wide range of expressive possibilities, making it capable of producing both soothing and emotive melodies.

3. Intuitive Playability - The handpan’s design encourages intuitive and tactile playing. Musicians can easily produce various tones and textures by striking different parts of the instrument, creating a dynamic and immersive performance.

4. Meditative Qualities - The meditative and calming qualities of the handpan are often attributed to its soothing and tranquil sound. The instrument’s ability to create a serene atmosphere makes it suitable for relaxation, meditation, and contemplative practices.

5. Physical Connection- The physicality of playing the handpan with the hands fosters a direct connection between the musician and the instrument. This tactile engagement enhances the emotional and sensory experience for both the player and the audience.

6. Visual Appeal - The handpan’s visually appealing design, with its distinct shape and dimples, adds to its allure. The instrument’s aesthetic qualities contribute to the overall mesmerizing experience, creating a sensory feast for both the ears and the eyes.

7. Versatility in Genres - While rooted in a unique and often ethereal sound, the handpan is versatile enough to be used in various musical genres, from world music to ambient and experimental. Its adaptability allows it to evoke different emotions and moods, further enhancing its hypnotic quality.
