Results day can feel overwhelming, especially when so much feels like it is hanging on a single moment.

Abbie, a final year Health Sciences student, has written a note to fellow Open University students, reminding you to pause and recognise how far you have already come, and how much there is to be proud of 💙

[Letter reads: Dear fellow OU students, With Results Day coming up, I know it's probably a nerve-wracking time for a lot of us. I know it is for me.
But I've been thinking that maybe those nerves aren't such a bad thing. They're a reminder of just how much we've put into this year or, for many of us, these last few years. Every assignment, every lecture squeezed around work, family life, or adventures, every late-night study session where we held onto the reasons we started this journey and the future we hoped to build for ourselves.
The highs, the lows, the challenges, the new friends we've made, and all the moments where we've proved to ourselves that we're capable of more than we thought.
Those nerves mean you care. And I think that's something to be proud of, because they come from all the time, effort, and heart you've poured into this journey.
Whatever happens on Results Day, getting to the finish line is an achievement in itself. Anything beyond that is a bonus, although of course it's always nice to see a great mark! But no result can take away the hard work, determination, and resilience that got us here
Take a moment to look back at how far you've come. Think about the version of yourself that started this journey and everything you've overcome since then. The truth is, you've already shown that you're capable of tackling whatever comes next.
Perhaps we’ll meet at a degree ceremony soon!
But until then, I just want to say:

We’re wishing all OU students the very best of luck as you head towards your results. Whatever happens, this moment is worth recognising, not just for the outcome, but for everything it took to get here 💙

2. You are not defined by a single result. You are defined by all of the effort that you've put in to get here.
3. You’ve already shown real commitment by reaching the end of this stage. That in itself is something to be extremely proud of.
4. Whatever happens next, this is one moment in a much bigger story you’re still building.
5. You’ve done your best up to this point, and that’s all that can be asked of you. There’s nothing more you can change now, so stop worrying about what’s out of your control.
