“When was the last time you spoke to the one you lost?”.

Strange question, right?

At our recent Orphan Sanctuary gathering, we sat down to do something simple yet deeply profound. We wrote a letter to our loved ones who are no longer here.

Life keeps us busy. We show up for work, family, and responsibilities… but rarely do we pause to ask ourselves;
What am I still carrying inside?
What would I say if I had just one more moment?

That night, the room was heavy with emotions. Tears flowed freely, but so did relief.

Grief is often silent and lonely, but here, there was no judgment, no shame, only hearts that understood each other’s pain.

This is what the Orphan Sanctuary is about. Not just a gathering, but a safe space where love and loss can coexist, and where healing is found in community.

Grief does not always look the same.

Some people cry.
Some go quiet.
Some become angry.
Some try to carry on like nothing happened.

There is no “perfect” way to grieve.

As a community, may we learn to give people the space, patience, and grace they need while navigating loss. 🤍

During our last gathering, we asked attendees how they wished people could show up for them in their time of grief.

This series captures a lot of their responses.

The most popular response had to be: allow people to grieve in their own way.

Grief looks different for everyone. It is only fair that when showing up for someone who is grieving, we try to approach it with a lot of patience and understanding.

Remember that it’s okay to respect their process and not rush them 💜
