Netflix has officially renewed “Nemesis” for a second season. Created by Courtney A. Kemp and Tani Marole, the crime thriller stars Matthew Law as LAPD detective Isaiah Stiles and Y’lan Noel as master thief Coltrane Wilder, whose rivalry will continue across Los Angeles.

Kemp and Marole say the next chapter will be “bigger and more intense,” further complicating the conflict between Stiles and Wilder while potentially exploring more of Charlie and Ebony’s history. New characters are also expected to enter the story. Production is set to resume soon, but Netflix has not announced a release date.

The renewal follows a strong first-season run, with “Nemesis” reaching No. 1 on Netflix’s English-language television chart with 11.4 million views during the week of May 18.

LeBron James will not return to the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2026–27 season, ending his eight-season run with the franchise.

His longtime agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN that James intends to continue his career and play a record-setting 24th NBA season, but with another team. The 41-year-old joined the Lakers in 2018 and helped lead the franchise to an NBA championship in 2020.

James’ next destination has not been announced. The Golden State Warriors have been linked to the four-time NBA champion, but no agreement has been reported.

Flex Alexander and Kyla Pratt are both ready to revisit “One on One.” During a new episode of the “Girl Dad Podcast,” Alexander revealed that he has spent 12 years trying to get a reboot made and that the project has come close to moving forward several times.

Pratt said she would return as Breanna, as long as the revival is done the right way. Flex Alexander proposed calling the reboot “More Than One,” which would continue the original show’s father-daughter story with Pratt’s real-life daughter joining the next chapter, after “One on One” found a whole new generation of viewers through Netflix.

Ice Cube and Nia Long are officially reuniting for “Are They Gone Yet?”, the third film in the “Are We There Yet?” comedy franchise and their first installment together in nearly 20 years.

Currently in early development after being acquired by Skydance Sports, the new movie will see Cube reprise his role as Nick Persons, who now faces his biggest and possibly most chaotic challenge yet: becoming a grandfather.

Long will return as his wife, Suzanne Kingston-Persons. Written by Chris Hazzard and Mike Fontana, the film is being produced by Broken Road and CubeVision, with Ice Cube, Todd Garner and Jeff Kwatinetz serving as producers and Ben Hurwitz and Lauren Gennawey executive producing.

The original “Are We There Yet?” premiered in 2005 and followed Nick’s disastrous road trip with Suzanne’s children, while the 2007 sequel, “Are We Done Yet?”, centered on the newly married family renovating their dream home.

Together, the two films earned more than $156 million worldwide and later inspired a three-season TBS sitcom. No release date, director or additional returning cast members have been announced.

Floyd Norman, Disney’s first Black animator, is set to receive an Honorary Oscar at the Academy’s 17th Governors Awards on November 15, 2026. The Academy will honor Norman for his decades-long career in animation and for breaking barriers in an industry where Black artists were rarely given that kind of space.

Norman began his career at Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1956. His first Disney feature was Sleeping Beauty, and he later worked on The Sword in the Stone, Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Robin Hood, Donald in Mathmagic Land, Goliath II, and Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.

After Walt Disney’s death, Norman helped co-found an animation studio with Leo Sullivan and worked on projects connected to Hey! Hey! Hey! It’s Fat Albert. He later returned to Disney and also worked across animation with Hanna-Barbera, Disney Publishing, and Pixar.

Over the years, Norman contributed to The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Toy Story 2, and Monsters, Inc. Disney named him a Disney Legend in 2007, and now the Academy is giving him one of the highest honors in film.
