Say whaaaaaaaaat???

Well, this is mind-boggling.

We’re super excited to share that we’ve received the honor of being named one of Junebug’s Best of The Best Destination Photo Contest winners! 😮😮😮

Wild. Like, truly.

Some of our absolute photography (s)heroes are in this collection and being ranked alongside them feels surreal quite honestly. (Imposter Syndrome is SCREAMING that someone CLEARLY made a mistake! 😂).

This image means a LOT to us.

Not because it’s badass as heck! And not just because those corgis are too darned cute for words!

But because we know how hard Andie and Maci fought to be standing there together on their wedding day.

They’d already had to completely reschedule once due to Maci getting deployed, and then they so very nearly had to give it all up again just days before due to her military commitments. But the Universe called in some favors and made it happen!!

And so these two wonderful human beings managed to spend this special time together - adventuring, exploring, making memories and getting flipping MARRIED - before Maci was went overseas for several months.

Maci now has these photos on her nightstand until she gets to come home to her family. 🥹

And, well, that matters to us. That’s the kind of meaning this job truly carries. It’s SO much more than just creating cool images.

What drives us?⁠
⁠
Hey friends! We don’t talk so much about ourselves on here - we’re kinda more interested in YOU - but once in a while we like to share our faces and a bit about ourselves.⁠
⁠
So, today, we got thinking about what drives us? Like, why do we do what we do, what makes us get out of bed in the morning, what puts a smile on our faces at the end of a busy day?⁠
⁠
I think, put simply, we have a real sense that life is for LIVING and we want every single person to get as much out of their time on this planet as humanly possible. ⁠
⁠
For whatever reason, this has always come naturally to us: we’re inclined to travel, we’ll try new things without overthinking (often without thinking at all, sorry Mum!) and it’s kind of never occurred to us that we can’t do whatever the heck we want with life.⁠
⁠
Naturally, we want to share that with others! And what more important time than on your wedding day??⁠
⁠
Marriage is the beginning of the most amazing journey together: whether you go hiking, road-tripping or jetting off to a whole new country, kickstarting your wedding day with an adventure seems apt to us. ⁠
⁠
We want couples to come out of their elopement experience with us absolutely overflowing with love, excitement and a real lust for life, and just buzzing about the months and years to come!⁠

Ugghhhh, everything about this day Melts. Our. Hearts.

When Ericka and Josh booked their elopement with us, they weren’t anticipating having a bubba on the way just yet!

After working through their initial worries about how being pregnant would impact their day, they went all in and embraced the opportunity to include and celebrate little one!

After they shared their vows, they took some quiet time to write a letter to their kiddo. Then they used their wedding cake cutting as an opportunity for a full on gender reveal! And, at sunset, they enjoyed getting not only wow portraits of the two of them, but some ‘maternity style’ shots, too.

Peep the mini booties they’re going to use for their baby announcement cards! 🥹

“We truly could not have asked for anyone better to photograph our elopement than Chad and Vanessa at The Outlovers. From our very first interaction, they made us feel supported, understood, and genuinely excited about the day we were creating.

Our ceremony was deeply personal and a little unconventional. We wanted something with pagan elements, including casting a circle and a dagger exchange, and Vanessa could not have been more open, accepting, and enthusiastic about helping us bring it to life. We came to her with the bones of what we wanted, and she helped us polish it into a ceremony that felt meaningful, intentional, and completely true to us. There was never a moment where we felt judged or like we needed to make our wedding fit into someone else’s idea of what a ceremony should look like.

On the day itself, Chad and Vanessa made us feel so incredibly special. They found breathtaking, quiet locations for our first look and ceremony and somehow made the entire experience feel intimate, relaxed, and full of joy.

Their experience also became invaluable whenever a little hiccup arose. They have clearly done this enough times to know how to adapt without ever making you feel like something is going wrong. Instead, you just feel taken care of.

Our elopement turned out to be everything we hoped it would be: intimate, beautiful, meaningful, a little wild, and completely ours. And now we have absolutely stunning photographs that allow us to step right back into those moments.

If you are considering eloping, especially if you want something personal, unconventional, adventurous, or simply different from a traditional wedding, I cannot recommend The Outlovers enough. Chad and Vanessa don’t just photograph your elopement. They help you create an experience you will want to remember for the rest of your life. There’s something so special about the way two women love each other.

We had the easiest job in the world as Kyler and Libby’s elopement photographers, we literally stood back and just watched the magic unfold. Minimal posing, prompting, directing… Just the natural joy of two beautiful souls loving on each other.

All those ‘oh so perfect’ elopement photos you’re seeing on Instagram? Take a closer look. Do they seem ‘real’ to you?⁠⁠

Colorado is PERFECT for elopements at this time of year: the air is cool and crisp, the Aspen trees are turning golden, and you might even get a little dusting of snow on the distant peaks...
