I wanted to learn to knit for one reason only: to make historical knits! Swipe to see the sleeves get put on.

This is the chilly sauce jacket from gay teen ideas for knitting & crocheting, a 1945 booklet. I used @blueskyfibers woolstok in wild thyme & earth ivy both from @seattleyarn . It’s the fastest I’ve ever made a sweater, taking only a little over a month start to finish!! 🌱🌲 taken in Portland, Oregon by @theperfecthour

Life is beautiful, life is horrible, etc etc

Health problems, gender stuff, the coming of spring, and my cats gi tract have all been on my mind lately. Trying to enjoy and hold space for it all (except my cat’s gi tract, that needs to get better soon lol) by @theperfecthour

Anyone contemplating their “inherent multiplicity” or is it just me and Moses Sumney?
I’ve had his album grae on repeat this month as I head into my 30th year on earth. My mind has been occupied with thoughts of who I am and how I want to express my gender. As a non-binary person, I long to present more masculinely but it’s a struggle to balance it with my lifelong passion for women’s fashion. I don’t know how to reconcile the two opposing concepts. The answer probably lies in the grayness but it’s hard to feel comfortable in the in between, balancing my conflicting longings.
This feels like navel gazing amidst the many real problems my country faces as we head deeper into a f*scist state. I promise I’m worrying about that too taken in Portland, Oregon by @theperfecthour

Haunting my own home 🕯️✨

Haven’t posted on here in ages but my outfit for @lilies_remains pj party was too good not to share.
Wearing a 1920s robe, 1930s nightgown and 1940s slippers for what turned out to be a very fun night out. I’m grateful that I was adopted into the vintage scene here. 💕

Guess who finished their first knitted sweater??

It took me 6 months but I finally did it. I learned a double knit button band, German short rows and the Italian cast on from this project. Thanks to YouTube tutorials and my knitting circle for keeping me going b/c tbh it was hard! 💚🧶

Feeling very 1920s in this lil #loupynetcap I just finished 🌿🌱

It’s been awhile since I’ve crocheted and I forgot how fast and easy it can be. Used 2.75 mm hook and a random mohair blend yarn I bought from @ebay forever ago. It ended up way too big so I threaded elastic thread thru to give it that snatched look🧵 taken in Portland, Oregon by @theperfecthour

Being alive is hard right now. For me personally and also for people on this earth. The new strain of covid, the genocide in Gaza, the wave of homophobia/transphobia, and the latest school school shooting that conservatives will use justify further transphobia just to name a few upsetting things I’m thinking about.

I made this in throes of my mysterious throat issues which turned out to be a horrible episode of acid reflux (ongoing) and eye pain (thankfully a lot better). My little ribbon is a talisman for healing but also as a reminder to keep going. Whatever horrors this world throws at us, we can hopefully persevere. If we’re lucky enough there’s a world past this. It’s made from a cotton scrap from a button down, embroidery floss, cardboard, cotton balls and dead stock 60s lace. by @theperfecthour

Being sick for a month has a lot of downsides but I got a ton of sewing done. During that time I made the #chloetoppattern from @silversagapatterns using an antique cotton toile de jouy I got an estate sale 10 years ago. I’ve never done a drawstring before but it came together super easily. ☁️🌾☁️ taken in Portland, Oregon by @theperfecthour
