EXPAT (Mykki Blanco and Samuel Acevedo) at
MASS PLAY I created in collaboration with Allegria Torassa, Paris, 2022.

EXPAT is a performance in which a combination of theatrical poetry stemming from the Black Queer diaspora is combined with the goth and heavy metal musical traditions of Latin America. Bloodbath of the colonizer, reclaiming the tradition of experimental noise for the Black/Brown wo/man and hardcore queer baptisms as a rite of passage into the void.

Battle-ax performing at Art Berlin, 2019.

On the occasion of Art Berlin 2019, The Performance Agency activated the inflatable temple Pneu (2018) by Viennese artist Selina Traun. The inflatable stage was filled with performances, soundscapes and objects inviting the audience into an experience of artistic interstices.

Silence by Lily Mcmenamy during Conversation Piece I at Paris Internationale, October 2018.

Conversation Piece I was a public program conceived by The Performance Agency for the 4th edition of Paris Internationale that took place under the magnified skirt of Marie-Antoinette, a stage, changing room and hideaway created by Maria Loboda. The structure of the ball gown functioned as a public pavilion for a series of one-on-one private conversations between the audience and invited experts from a variety of fields. Within the comfort and privacy of the Boudoir, the conversations could unfold their deep and singular transformational potential.

New looks.

Often associated with functional design, minimalism & modernist architecture, Oskar Schlemmer ballet costumes and ideas on art were complex and challenging even for the progressive Bauhaus movement.

Schlemmer aimed to synthesise choreography and geometry together with other artistic disciplines to ‘elevate’ the aesthetics of human movement and create a new theatrical Gesamtkunstwerk. To enhance the visual element of his productions, he and his workshop colleagues created costumes for the dancers.
As well as the Triadic Baller, Schlemmer organized extravagant costume parties with themes such as 'Beard, Nose and Heart Party' or the 'Metallic Party'.

Cleft, by Tarren Johnson, performed by LEGZ (Jules Petru) at Between Points, Berlin, 2018.

Between Points showed an exhibition of Fluxus artist Geoffrey Hendricks at the Archivio Conz in Berlin - located directly on the water - and then took the audience into the city by boat. The narrated ride wove a story of its surrounding, passing performance pieces along the river bed, the stages of the city. Between Points is an assent to the fleeting, to looking up.

Saburo Murakami was a Japanese visual and performance artist. A member of the 𝘎𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘪 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, Murakami is best known for his paper-breaking performances in which he passes through kraft paper stretched on large wooden frames, leaving paper shredded in his wake .

Founded in 1954 by a collection of young artists, 𝘎𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘪 officially known as 𝘎𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘪 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, was the first radical, post-war artistic group in Japan. With the aim to go beyond abstraction and pursue the possibilities of pure creativity, 𝘎𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘪 sought to address the delicate interaction between spirit and matter that ultimately enables art to tell a story.

Translated into English as ‘embodiment’ or ‘concrete’, 𝘎𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘪 aimed to demonstrate evidence of free-spirit. With early works focused on performance, large installation and happenings, the art movement reflected the freedom of postwar society against its totalitarianism during wartime.
