What’s a true patriot? Not someone waving a flag while stripping away our rights.

It’s the women and allies who show up.

Why is this so hard?!

Left my ER shift last night to news of the shooting in Oregon, and couldn’t stop thinking about all the gun injuries and deaths that never make the news. If this shakes us so deeply, imagine how we would feel if we heard about what happens EVERY single day.

We are not asking to take away guns. We want gun ownership to come with responsibility, and we want to keep guns out of the hands of people who pose a danger to themselves or others.

It’s as simple as that. by @thepersistnetwork

This… is our president. Let that sink in.

If your kid came home talking about someone like this, you’d be having a conversation about bullying and maybe even taking their phone privileges away…. someone should be doing the same for him…. by @thepersistnetwork

A man awaiting trial on r*pe and SA charges is moderating a panel on American health care. A disturbingly fitting metaphor for where women’s health and safety rank in this administration’s priorities. by @thepersistnetwork

We’re heading into election season, and it’s not only your vote that matters. It’s also who you choose to support.

We can all get creative about how we contribute. As a physician, my version is picking up an extra shift or two and donating what I earn to candidates I believe in…including local and down-ballot candidates without national attention or enormous fundraising networks.

I’m looking for leaders who will fight for affordable healthcare, protect children’s health and reproductive freedom, support healthcare workers, lower prescription drug costs, and keep medical decisions between patients and their healthcare professionals.

We also need leaders who value science, respect the scientific review process, follow evidence-based vaccine recommendations from medical experts - and not have these pathways altered or dismantled, and protect funding for disease surveillance, research, outbreak response, food safety, and public health preparedness.

If you’re a candidate who shares these priorities, introduce yourself below! Tell us your name, what you’re running for, and where. And if you know someone we should support, tag them.

Last March, at an event with PERSIST, in a space full of incredible women, and a moment that I’m sure stayed with us all 💜

Last year I sat with Gloria Steinem in Diane von Furstenberg’s flagship studio for an intergenerational conversation about reclaiming human connection and movement-building in an era of algorithm-driven disconnection. It was one of the highlights of my life. Weeks later, I was sitting in her living room in New York, where generations of feminists have gathered to think out loud, for a Talking Circle with a group of dynamic women. This time, no microphones. She listened more than she spoke. When she did speak, everyone leaned in.

That’s the Gloria I’ll carry. Not the icon, though she was that. The organizer who chose circles over hierarchies, and who knew that every movement begins with people face-to-face, encountering each other’s stories. The woman who made you feel like the movement had room for you, that your voice was wanted, that the work was joyful even when it was hard. She spent her whole life making that kind of room for other people, and I will forever be grateful for the space she made for me.

Gloria, my shero, thank you for your years of service, your feminism, your hope, and your belief in the next generation.

May her memory be a revolution. by @thepersistnetwork

Like so many of you, I’ve spent today thinking about Gloria and what her life and fight meant to generations of women - and what it meant to me personally.

Gloria believed fiercely in the power of gathering. So tonight, I’m simply opening the doors at CIVIC. and inviting women and our allies to come together. No program. No speeches. Nothing formal. Come have a drink, share a story, bring a friend, or simply be together.

We’ll gather at CIVIC. starting at 6:00 PM. No RSVP needed, and please feel free to bring others. Our work continues. by @thepersistnetwork

Gloria Steinem spent her life changing the rooms women were allowed to enter. But one of the things we admired most about her was what she did once she was in them: she kept making room.

She never seemed interested in being the last word. She invited younger activists into her literal living room. She listened to people who came after her. She shared what she knew without acting like experience gave her ownership over the movement.

She didn’t just put a hand down to pull the next woman up. She helped build the ladder. And then she kept inviting more of us to climb it.

In 2025, our team had the extraordinary privilege of being in community with Gloria and a room full of women trying, in all of our different ways, to change this country. In this clip, she told us she had just read about a woman in India who claimed to be 135 years old. Then, looking around that room, she said we had inspired her so much that she had decided she would try to live to 135, too.

She didn’t make it to 135. Gloria died yesterday at 92.

But damn, did she use those 92 years.

There are a million Gloria Steinem quotes worth carrying with us, but today we keep coming back to this one:

“Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that the armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke…she will need her sisterhood.”

Today is not a day for only sadness.

It is a day to recommit to gathering together, to using our voices to organize and mobilize for the things we believe in.

We love you, Gloria. Rest. by @thepersistnetwork

What a huge loss. Gloria Steinem spent her life making the impossible ordinary. Generations of women live differently because she fought first. I was lucky enough to meet her and to chat a bit. Thank you, Gloria. We’ll keep fighting. Rest in power. 🙏💔 by @thepersistnetwork
