Totul începe pe la 1900, când Regele Carol I i-a invitat la București pe doi arhitecți elvețieni: Édouard Redont și Gustav Adolf Suter. Acesta din urmă a primit misiunea de a transforma Dealul Filaret, unde avea să ridice unul dintre cele mai elegante palate ale Capitalei, într-un stil neoclasic cu influențe brâncovenești.

Dar, cu mult înainte să devină unul dintre cele mai exclusiviste hoteluri din București, și să ii găzduiască pe Beyoncé, Enrique Iglesias și Deep Purple, acest palat a fost cumpărat de un bancher drept cadou pentru amanta sa, a devenit sediu al Partidului Comunist și chiar centru local de operațiuni al KGB.

Puține clădiri din România au adunat atâta istorie între aceiași pereți.

După mai bine de un secol și o restaurare impresionantă, clădirea și-a recăpătat strălucirea, pe cel mai înalt punct din Bucuresti, devenind un boutique hotel de patrimoniu. Printre cele mai spectaculoase detalii se află candelabrul din cristal Murano, inspirat de „Coloana Infinitului” a lui Brâncuși și considerat cel mai lung de acest tip din Europa.

Astăzi, Suter Palace este ales de artiști internaționali, membri ai familiilor regale, diplomați și oameni de afaceri care apreciază un lux discret, în care istoria nu este doar expusă, ci trăită.

Construit între 1833 și 1835 pentru Barbu Dimitrie Știrbei, viitorul domn al Țării Românești, palatul a fost proiectat de arhitectul francez Michel Sanjouand într-un rafinat stil neoclasic.
Ceea ce puțini știu este că imaginea emblematică de astăzi se datorează unei transformări din 1882, când arhitectul Friedrich Hartmann a redesenat fațada, adăugând turnul de colț și spectaculosul etaj susținut de cariatide.
În 1948, odată cu naționalizarea, statul a rechiziționat pivnițele împreună cu un stoc documentat de 12.788 de litri de vin, transformând spațiul într-un centru pentru depozitarea și îmbutelierea vinurilor de soi.

Între zidurile sale au avut loc baluri aristocratice, întâlniri diplomatice și seri care au definit eleganța Bucureștiului din Belle Époque. Chiar și Theodor Aman a imortalizat atmosfera acestor recepții în celebra lucrare Serată la Palatul Știrbei.

Restaurat cu respect pentru patrimoniu, în prezent găzduiește | @toffgalleries | TOFF Galleries – primul luxury department store din România, un loc în care arhitectura istorică, moda, arta și experiențele contemporane se întâlnesc sub același acoperiș.

În spatele fațadei impunătoare de azi, The Marmorosch Bucharest a fost cândva sediul băncii Marmorosch Blank & Co. — un nume care, la început de secol XX, inspira aceeași încredere pe care o inspiră astăzi marile branduri globale. 🏨

Clădirea impresionează și acum prin detalii rare pentru centrul vechi: fațadă neoclasică, coloane masive, plafoane înalte și multă marmură — toate gândite să transmită siguranță și prestigiu. Construită special pentru funcțiunea bancară, includea birouri elegante pentru negocieri, săli de consiliu cu lemn nobil și un tezaur subteran cu pereți groși și uși metalice originale.

Proiectul poartă semnătura arhitectului Petre Antonescu, care a conceput spațiul ca pe un simbol al stabilității financiare — o clădire menită să inspire încredere înainte ca cineva să rostească un cuvânt. Se spune că aici se purtau negocieri decisive pentru economie, iar în seifuri nu se păstrau doar valori, ci și planuri pentru viitorul României. Arhitectura nu era doar estetică, ci un statement de putere și stabilitate pentru oricine îi trecea pragul.

Astăzi, energia locului s-a transformat: mai puțin despre bani, mai mult despre oameni, idei și relații care creează valoare.
După restaurare, fostul palat bancar a devenit hotel de lux cu 217 camere care îmbină detaliile istorice cu amenajări contemporane — de la camere elegante până la suite sofisticate ce reflectă atmosfera Belle Époque a clădirii.
