Therapeutic Plasma Exchange helps remove inflammatory substances and other circulating compounds that can accumulate in the bloodstream over time. Its purpose is to support a healthier internal environment.

At our practice, we believe in following the same principles we recommend to our patients. In this video, Dr. Layke is undergoing TPE himself as part of his own personalized longevity strategy.

The procedure is only one part of the process. We always evaluate each patient’s health, laboratory findings, biomarkers, and long-term goals before determining whether TPE is appropriate.

For us, longevity is never based on a single treatment. Every recommendation is guided by individual data and a comprehensive medical strategy. When indicated, TPE may become an important part of a broader longevity plan, with the goal of selecting the right treatment for the right patient. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

One of the challenges in Regenerative Medicine is ensuring that administered cells reach the tissues they are intended to support. After intravenous infusion, many conventional stem cells may become trapped in the lungs or cleared from circulation.

Emerging research into Muse Cells, a rare population of stress-resistant cells, is exploring their potential ability to respond to signals from damaged tissues and migrate toward sites of injury.

Early clinical research involving patients after a heart attack has reported encouraging improvements in cardiac function following investigational Muse Cell therapy. However, these findings remain preliminary, and larger studies are needed to establish safety and effectiveness.

At Proactive Longevity, we follow advances in regenerative medicine with a focus on cell quality, biological characteristics, safety, and scientific evidence. Responsible innovation means understanding both the potential of emerging therapies and the questions that remain unanswered. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

More health testing does not automatically mean better medical care. The real value of a biomarker lies in how it helps physicians understand risk, interpret health changes, and make informed clinical decisions.

At Proactive Longevity, in collaboration with @hundredhealth, assessments may include body composition, muscle mass, cardiorespiratory fitness, inflammatory markers, and indicators of liver, kidney, and nutritional health when clinically relevant.

These measurements are most useful when interpreted alongside medical history, individual risk factors, and personal health goals, rather than viewed as isolated numbers.

Our approach to Longevity Medicine focuses on translating complex health data into meaningful clinical priorities, helping patients understand which findings matter and where to focus their efforts. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

Parkinson's disease presents regenerative medicine with an extraordinary challenge and, at the same time, a relatively clear cellular target.

A defining feature of the disease is the progressive loss of dopamine-producing neurons. Researchers are now testing whether specifically developed dopaminergic progenitor cells can survive after transplantation, produce dopamine, and potentially restore part of that lost function.

XS411, an investigational iPSC-derived dopaminergic neural progenitor cell therapy, is currently being evaluated in clinical trials, including a Phase I/II study in early-onset Parkinson's disease.

In August 2026, it was reported that XS411 received FDA Fast Track designation. That is important, but Fast Track is not FDA approval. It is a regulatory process designed to facilitate development and review of therapies for serious conditions with unmet medical needs.

The larger significance is the strategy itself. Parkinson's is helping test whether regenerative medicine can become precise enough to replace a defined cellular population rather than simply treating the downstream consequences of its loss. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

Advanced longevity treatments should be evaluated with the same clinical standards as any other medical intervention. Potential benefits are important, but safety, scientific evidence, and treatment quality must come first.

At Proactive Longevity, our physicians carefully consider product sourcing, manufacturing standards, storage conditions, and patient suitability before recommending a therapy.

Not every emerging treatment has the same level of scientific support. Understanding what is established, what remains uncertain, and which risks may be involved is essential to making informed medical decisions.

Our approach to Longevity Medicine prioritizes responsible innovation, individualized care, and ongoing medical oversight rather than following trends or promising results that have not been demonstrated. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

The blood-brain barrier is one reason we traditionally think of the brain as a highly protected biological environment.

A 2026 Nature study found evidence that bone marrow-derived cells enter the human brain with aging and can contribute substantially to populations of cells resembling the brain's resident immune cells, known as microglia.

Researchers were able to trace their origin by identifying mutations shared between cells in the blood and cells found in postmortem brain tissue from older adults.

The finding raises fascinating questions about brain aging and regenerative medicine. One future possibility proposed by the researchers is whether immune cells originating outside the brain could eventually be engineered as vehicles for delivering therapies into the central nervous system.

What it does not demonstrate is that conventional intravenous stem-cell treatments automatically cross the blood-brain barrier or treat neurological disease. This is an important biological discovery and a new direction for research, not evidence for an established therapy. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

At Proactive, taking an active role in your health is personal, even for our physicians.

In this video, Dr. Loewenbein shares what brought him to the TPE treatment chair: his genetically elevated lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), and his commitment to understanding his own health risks.

We’ve shared how plasma exchange works. This conversation offers a more personal perspective on why someone may choose to undergo it as part of an individualized care plan.

For us, proactive healthcare starts with knowing your risks, asking thoughtful questions, and making informed decisions with your medical team. It’s the same care and intention we bring to our patients and to ourselves.

Every treatment requires individual medical evaluation. This video reflects one physician’s personal experience. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

GLP-1-based medications have changed what is possible in obesity treatment, but they have also created a more sophisticated question: what is happening to body composition as weight decreases?

Significant weight loss can include reductions in both fat mass and lean mass. Importantly, lean mass is not identical to skeletal muscle, so changes in a body-composition measurement should be interpreted with appropriate context.

Current research also suggests that the effects on lean tissue are not identical across every medication, dose, study, or patient, which is why we would not describe problematic muscle loss as an inevitable consequence of GLP-1 treatment.

What makes sense is protecting the outcomes that matter long term: strength, physical function, adequate nutrition, resistance training, and healthy body composition.

If the goal is healthspan, success should not be measured exclusively by becoming lighter. Preserving the physical capacity you want to carry into later life deserves to be part of the conversation as well. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

At Proactive Longevity, the first visit begins with understanding the patient’s health rather than starting with a predetermined treatment package.

The evaluation may include a review of medical history, medications, laboratory results, family history, energy, recovery, and body composition, helping identify which areas deserve closer attention.

Based on those findings, additional evaluations or therapies may be considered according to individual needs, including metabolic testing, lung optimization, advanced immunotherapies, and other longevity-focused modalities.

The objective is to provide a clearer picture of current health, establish meaningful priorities, and develop a personalized strategy for managing health and aging over time. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity

Protein has become one of the dominant conversations in nutrition, and there is good reason for that. Adequate protein is important, particularly when preserving muscle becomes a priority.

The problem begins when one nutrient becomes a substitute for thinking about the rest of the system.

Muscle also needs a reason to adapt. Resistance exercise provides that stimulus, while nutrition provides the materials and energy needed to support recovery and adaptation.

Then there is everything surrounding those two pieces: overall diet quality, sleep, physical activity, metabolic health, consistency, and whether the plan is sustainable enough to maintain for years.

Healthy aging is rarely built around discovering one perfect nutrient. More often, it comes from making several important fundamentals work together exceptionally well. taken in Beverly Hills, California by @theproactivelongevity
