There comes a time when you stop asking why they changed, and start asking why you kept abandoning yourself to understand them. Perhaps growing is not becoming harder it is learning to protect a heart that still chooses to remain soft.

Some people enter your life gently, learn where your heart is most fragile, and leave those places wounded. But the deepest lesson of betrayal is not to become colder it is to become wiser about who deserves your warmth. Keep your heart soft; just stop leaving the door unlocked.#quiteintensity #poetryworld #fypppppp taken in Explore اکسپلور by @thequiteintensity

There are people you forgive
Sometimes, you forgive certain people but never feel safe with them again. It’s not about cruelty, but about how trust costs when given blindly. Just sharing this thought. #poetry #embrace #quiteintensity by @thequiteintensity

Some books disturb you while you’re reading them. Others disturb something inside you long after you close the last page.

What stayed with me wasn’t only the violence. It was the quietness with which people learned to live beside it. How easily the unbearable becomes ordinary when you are exposed to it long enough. How we can slowly rename what hurts us, justify what diminishes us, and call our ability to endure it “strength.”

And maybe that is what frightened me most not the world in the book, but the parts of it that felt painfully familiar.

There have been moments in my own life when I stayed too long in places that made me question my worth. When I kept giving because I believed patience would eventually be understood. When I confused being needed with being valued, endurance with strength, and silence with peace.

But a person can survive almost anything and still lose something of themselves in the process.

I’m beginning to understand that protecting my humanity sometimes means refusing to become numb. It means keeping my heart open without leaving it unguarded. Keeping my passion alive even when nobody applauds it. Loving people without abandoning myself to be loved by them. And having the courage to leave not because I stopped caring, but because I finally understood that caring should never require me to disappear.

Maybe growing older is not about becoming harder.

Maybe it is about becoming more discerning about what deserves your softness.

Because the greatest danger isn’t always what breaks you.

Sometimes it is what you endure so quietly that, one day, you no longer remember who you were before you learned to tolerate it.

I would rather lose a place, a person, or a version of my life than lose the part of me that still knows what is right, what is real, and what I deserve.

And perhaps that is what this book ultimately left me with:

Never let survival become so comfortable that you mistake it for living.
