This year, the year of the snake in Chinese mythology, represents the shedding of the old, what doesn't serve us so we can move forward lighter and more prepared for the future. I was born in the year of the snake so this year has been quite the transformation for me with this 12 year cycle coming back around.
It's almost my birthday so I have been reflecting on this in regards to myself a lot.

This year has presented many opportunities for self work, transformation and growth. I've been working through immense grief and experiencing immense success and joy as well. I've been working on my self confidence, self assuredness, consistency, holding space for myself and others, practicing joy in times of strife, practicing patience for myself and for those around me, among many other things.

Though you might not know this about me because of how I present myself, I'm actually a very shy person and my performing journey has been such a wild ride.
The way this song that I wrote over a decade ago, Ocean Eyes, has evolved really shows me how I have evolved as a person and a performer. I'm much more sure of myself. Even when I'm feeling afraid to speak up, I will when I feel called to speak. I'm feeling called to share my voice more than I ever have before. I've been writing more poetry and more music again and I'm looking forward to sharing it with you all when the time is right.

I've been feeling a call to share the wisdom that I have deep within me: the importance of building community, practicing kindness, being generous and above all else loving ourselves and others.
I'm looking forward to sharing and spreading love in this coming year, to see what this next year will bring for my inner world and how I can help this earth and my community.

Went to Anchor and Tree today! Got some yummy coffee from my favorite roasters! 😉 And I also got some beautiful earrings from the lovely Nicole Catris! ( @nicole_catris ) She was sharing her amazing art with the community.
Looking forward to wearing these earrings for years to come!

Eddy Montez is a multi-instrumentalist sound practitioner with a background in classical and world music. His sound journeys are eclectic, utilizing traditional and modern acoustic instruments as well as chanting and overtone/throat singing. He holds a Bachelors of Music in Classical Voice from CSU Sacramento, is an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. He also curates the Sac local Alt-rock World Fusion band ERFL [Eddy, Rose and the Foreign Locals] His spiritual practice draws from a multitude of cultures and traditions, including Taoism, Zen Buddhism, Hinduism, and Pantheistic-Christian Mysticism. He and his partner Rose Montez host community relaxation events with guided mediation and immersive acoustic electric sound journeys.

Friday Aug 28th's partial lunar eclipse in Pisces marks the close of the August eclipse portal that opened with a solar eclipse in Leo back on the 12th.
