I'll stand on this: the best jajangmyeon/tangsuyuk in South Bay belongs to Tong Soon Garden! It's a classic Korean-Chinese restaurant that'll remind you of the ones your parents took you to as a kid, and they specialize in jajangmyeon ($14) and tangsuyuk ($23). Believe me, the prices understate just how good these dishes are. I'm definitely coming back for more. Follow @there.is.will for more reviews! 📍Tong Soon Garden 3240 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95051 #bayareaeats #bayareafoodie #koreanfood #jajangmyeon #thereisawill by @there.is.will
Comment MOON for the mooncake recipe, and follow along for more ideas like this! 🌕 Truth is, this recipe isn't hard — it just takes practice and a little patience to actually get right. Good news: the holiday is still a couple weeks out, so there's time for you to give it a real shot! It's a labor of love, made for people you actually want to share it with — family, friends, and whoever you're missing this Mid-Autumn. #mooncake #midautumnfestival #asianfood #lifejourney #thereisawill by @there.is.will
Save this easy recipe for your next date (or a treat for yourself)! It's no fuss and easy, even for non-bakers 🫡 and follow @there.is.will to catch my next recipes! ----- Serves 16 egg tarts Ingredients: - 1/2 cup granulated sugar - 1 cup hot water - 1/2 cup evaporated milk - 3 large eggs - 1 tsp vanilla extract - 16 frozen egg tart shells (this is the trick to make it easy! and it's sold at many Asian grocery stores like 99 Ranch) Recipe: 1. Dissolve sugar in hot water, then cool to room temperature 2. Whisk the eggs, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract together. 3. Add the sugar water to the egg mixture and whisk 4. Pour through fine meshed strainer 5. Pour the mixture into the egg tart shells till about 80% full 6. Bake at 400 F / 200 C for ~30 min, then rest for 10 min before serving #dimsum #eggtart #chinesefood #cookingathome #asianfood by @there.is.will
Comment PLUM for the recipe! This plum honey rose pastry is almost too pretty to eat, but way too easy (and delicious) to not bake. It deserves a spot beside you and your date night meal 🫡 also, keshi is a mood sometimes haha Follow along for more recipes, and stay tuned for Part 3 of the plum date night series tomorrow: Hong Kong Egg Tarts! 👇 CAST YOUR VOTE BELOW 👇 Which would you rather give/receive on a date night? #plum #pastryart #baking #datenight #thereisawill by @there.is.will
Comment PLUM for the recipe (as well as the pair of desserts as a second course!) This is my twist on the classic Chinese recipe of red-braised pork belly (hóng shāo ròu 红烧肉). The main change is switching out most of the Shaoxing rice wine with plum soju, which gives the pork belly a more floral undertone. This is perfect for a date night, along with a steaming bowl of rice and veggies 😋 Follow along for more recipes, and stay tuned for Part 2 of the Plum date night series tomorrow: Plum Honey Rose! ---- Ingredients: 800g pork belly 1 cup @jinro_us plum soju 1/2 cup Shaoxing rice wine 3 tbsp light soy sauce 2 tbsp dark soy sauce 5 slices ginger 2 star anise 2 bay leaves 30g rock sugar #plum #hongshaorou #chinesefood #asianfood #cookingathome by @there.is.will

Here's another beef noodle soup spot: Liang's Village! While their beef and tendon noodle soup is solid, I'd highly recommend trying their beef pancake roll. It's very well-balanced: crisp, well-seasoned, and juicy without falling apart like many others I've tried 😋 Follow @there.is.will for more reviews! 📍Liang's Village — Cupertino 20530 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014 #bayareaeats #bayareafoodie #taiwanesefood #beefnoodlesoup #thereisawill by @there.is.will
See below the full recipe, and comment SOBA for the full details! Zaru soba (or chilled soba) is a fantastic noodle dish whenever the weather is a bit hot. Pair it with kabocha tempura, and you have the perfect dinner for a warm, autumn night: refreshing, soft, savory profile of soba juxtaposed against warm, crisp, and subtly sweet profile of the tempura. You can make this for an everyday dinner, or spice up a casual date night with this thoughtful pairing (and better yet, they are quick and easy to make)! Follow @there.is.will so you don't miss the next dinner theme: "Plums are Unforgettable"! Recipe: 1. Slice green onions 2. Grate daikon 3. Strain water out of grated daikon 4. Chill dipping sauce (tsuyu) with ice / make from scratch 5. Boil soba noodles for ~4 minutes 6. Chill soba in ice-cold water 7. Plate soba, and serve cold 8. Mix tsuyu, dip your soba, and it's ready to eat! #soba #datenight #japanesefood #cookingathome #thereisawill by @there.is.will

Save and share this simple recipe for fried sesame balls! And follow along for more recipe ideas 😊 While fried sesame balls are different than tang yuan, their cores are the same: a glutinous rice dough filled with sweet paste. Similarly, growth as an adult is sometimes like that, too: you may not have changed too much as a person, but the way you do things changed to match your current life stage. I hope you're OK with me sharing this new reflection; I thought the analogy was timely! Here's the recipe: -------------- Serving size: 8 fried sesame balls Ingredients: 1 & 1/2 cups glutinous rice flour (divided) 1/3 cup granulated sugar 7 ounces of paste (I used black sesame and red bean in the video) 1/4 cup sesame seeds 4 cups peanut or canola oil Instructions: Make sesame ball dough. Place 1/2 cup glutinous rice flour and sugar in a bowl. Pour ¼ cup of hot water into the flour and sugar. Mix until smooth, then add the rest of glutinous rice flour and ¼ cup room temperature water. Mix until it forms a dough, cover the bowl, and set aside to rest 15 min. Rinse your sesame seeds until soaked, drain completely, and spread on a plate. Divide your paste into 8 equal parts, and then do the same with the dough. Flatten the dough ball until it is ~3 inches in diameter – the middle slightly thicker. Place 1 ball of filling in the center of the dough, wrapping the dough completely around the ball. Then roll until it’s a uniform round ball. Roll the ball in the moistened sesame seeds until the entire ball is thoroughly covered. Heat all the oil in a pot at low-medium heat. It’s ready to fry when sesame seeds sizzle when dropped into the oil. Drop the balls into the oil, and immediately use a spoon to gently move them around so they do not stick. Once the sesame balls begin to float to the top of the oil, you can press them down so they get an even fry. Increase the heat to medium-high and fry until light golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes and serve! #sesameballs #chinesefood #homecooking #dimsum #thereisawill by @there.is.will
