Bad intentions - (Gifted from the publisher - all thoughts are my own) What a fantastic book! As soon as you start this book you are already thrown into the mystery ahead and instantly I was captivated and intrigued. Set in a small town, it really gives this book an atmospheric setting that really added to the suspense and mystery of this story. - Josie has moved back in with her grandmother in a town where everyone remembers Josie’s mother but Josie doesnt remember her and people say she did something bad. When she finally starts digging into the truth will it be safe to do so? And what will she uncover? - This is a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s fast paced and full of twists that made me audibly gasp. I really enjoyed the descriptive of the characters and their lives as it really made it feel a bit more real. Told through multiple POVs I think it really added to the story as it added some more mystery elements and added more to the story. I also really enjoyed the short chapters as it made me fly through this book needing to know what was going to happen and I was not disappointed. A story that was full of suspense, how keeping family secrets becomes an issue over time, small town where everyone knows everyone’s business or so they seem and really fantastic main characters! This is definitely the perfect book to pick up this month! ‘Josie Boots never knew her mother. But everyone in the small town of Burnville had heard the rumours. Raised by her grandmother, Karen, Josie has always wanted to know the truth behind the whispers. Who was her father? How did her mother die? And what really happened twenty-five years ago that led to a local man found dead, and Karen being accused of murder? The Boots family have a bad reputation. Karen has never revealed the family’s secrets – but Josie is tired of waiting. So when a stranger reaches out offering her answers, she jumps at the chance to meet him. But in Burnville, when you start digging up the past, you risk setting the whole town alight

Bookstagram tour - Forced proximity - (First things first, huge apologies to @novel.tours for the late blog tour post! Completely got my days mixed up.) This was such a fun read. It had everything I loved, slow burn, enemies to lovers and with a title like forced proximity how could you not want to read this? In this story we follow Lexi. She’s a personal security guard and is the best of the best. She’s put out when she’s assigned a new position as a ‘babysitter’ for A Lister Justin Greenwood. She accepts to help him when a stalker has set their sights on Justin. When they think they don’t need each but, are forced to be round each other most of the time can they fight the attraction? This was just a brilliant read. I really like how we the roles are reversed as I’ve read a few where he’s the bodyguard so it was nice to read about a woman in that role and how much she loves her job. The slow burn was one of my favourite parts of this book. It was done so well and as the story went on you could feel the tension between these characters. I loved Lexi from the get go but Justin, who was a bit full of himself at the beginning, really grew on me as the story went on and both of these characters opened up more to each other. A brilliant read! by @thereaderscornerx
Bookstagram tour! - Swipe to read my review and read below what this fantastic book is about! Thank you @oneworldpublications and @novel.tours for the opportunity and the review copy! - After a lifetime together, Heti thought she knew her mother inside out. She’s about to discover how wrong she was. Heti moves in a daze of grief after her mother dies, until her life is upended by the arrival of an unmarked package containing photographs of her mother as a young woman in Iran, enveloped head to toe in a black veil, pointing a machine gun at a group of sobbing young women. Unable to confront the one person she most wants answers from, she turns to the women around her, listening to their surprising, funny and often contradictory stories. Through them, she realises that every woman contains hidden lives and private truths. So when it falls to her to organise a memorial marking the first anniversary of her mother’s death, Heti gathers the women who knew her best and asks them: Who was my mother? And who are we? This was so an interesting read! I really love the story of this book and the way it looks at motherhood, secrets kept and being a woman. This book had its serious moments and also its funny moments and I really enjoyed the balance between the two! After finding out about her mother’s life after she died she wishes she was around to ask questions about the life she led. Instead she turns to the women around her for stories and I think they were woven into the story was done brilliantly with their different cultures. This is a tender book that has its funny moments and really shows how women are expected to be a certain way and the expectations that are thrown upon us and how we are shaped by our mothers and grandmothers. I was really interested in the customary memorial that was going to happen as it was a year after her mother’s death and the events leading up to it and the stories we heard. Highly recommend! by @thereaderscornerx

Where a bunch of magical school misfits are about to save the world. Or, more likely, die trying . . . Since dropping out of Neverthorn Academy, after the death of her mother, Harlow Daygon has been working as an enchanted-jewel thief. The last thing she expects is for the school to make an offer she can’t refuse: come back to Neverthorn and join seven others with secret magical abilities in House Phoenix. There, they’ll be trained in potions, rune casting and combat. Because Nocta – a powerful dark wizard who has been plaguing the magical realm for decades – has the mortal world in his sights, and the students of House Phoenix are all that stand in his way. But Harlow failed at Neverthorn once before. And nothing reminds her of this more than tall, brooding Typhon – Harlow’s old classmate and nemesis – who is now the professor tasked with unlocking her own, special power. Except Harlow is sure that Typhon and the other professors are hiding a dark secret. One she must figure out before Nocta arrives to bring about the end of the world . . . by @thereaderscornerx
