☀️🌿 Flatlay Friday: Summer Solstice Edition 🌿☀️

The longest day of the year calls for books, flowers, golden light, and a little midsummer magic.

I’m spending the solstice surrounded by stories and soaking up every extra minute of daylight before the days begin to shorten again.

What are you reading this weekend? 📚✨

🖤📚 Throwback Thursday: Salem Edition 📚🖤

Last summer I checked a major bookish destination off my bucket list and visited Salem, Massachusetts.

One of the highlights was touring Nathaniel Hawthorne’s birthplace, seeing his actual writing desk, and exploring The House of the Seven Gables, the historic home that inspired one of his most famous novels.

Between the historic houses, beautiful gardens, literary history, and Salem’s wonderfully eerie atmosphere, it felt like stepping into the pages of a gothic novel.

As a reader who loves gothic fiction, dark academia, and haunted history, this was a trip I’ll never forget.

Have you ever visited a place connected to a favorite author or book? 📖✨

🔪 Final Girl Energy 🔪

You know the rules… someone has to make it to the end 🙃🩸

For Day 5 of the #ThiccBooksChallengeOct26, I pulled a stack that understood the assignment: slashers, killers, questionable survival decisions, and girls who simply refuse to die 💀

📚 Slasher Summer
🍬 Tastes Like Candy
🩸 What We Did to Survive
🤡 Clown in a Cornfield

Because apparently my idea of a good time is rooting for the girl covered in blood holding the weapon by the final chapter. 🔪

QOTD: Who’s your favorite final girl or what book gave you the BEST final girl energy?

🐈‍⬛🦇 Black Cats & Bats 🦇🐈‍⬛

Day 4 of the #ThiccBooksChallengeOct26 and apparently my shelves understood the assignment 👻

A black cat on Strange Familiars, bats flying around Summerween, and Spookily Yours bringing all the witchy vibes. Add a candle, a tiny ghost, and a little dark academia energy and we are officially in spooky season. 🖤👻✨

QOTD: Are you choosing black cats 🐈‍⬛ or bats 🦇 as your spooky-season sidekick?

🖤 SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT: VILLAINS 🖤

Listen… I support women’s rights AND morally gray men’s wrongs 🩶🙃

Give me the villain. The antihero. The morally questionable man with suspicious motives who probably needs therapy but instead chooses violence... bonus points if he’s lurking around a gothic castle! 🗡️💀

For today’s #thiccbookschallengeoct26 prompt, I pulled some of my favorite villainous/morally gray reads from my shelves:

🖤 Belladonna
🗡️ The Cruel Prince
🔥 Phantasma
⚔️ Scarred
🔮 Kingdom of the Wicked

Because apparently “red flag” just looks burgundy in dark academia lighting 🚩

QOTD: Are you choosing the hero… or are you rooting for the villain? 👀

🎃 Day 2: Spell October 🎃

Spelling my favorite month the only way that makes sense… with books 🙃📚

O — Our Infinite Fates
C — Chilling Ghost Stories
T — Teeth in the Mist
O — The October Film Haunt
B — Bochica
E — End of Watch
R — Ravenous

And obviously I had to make the stack appropriately spooky! 💀🎃

Which letter would you be most tempted to pull off my stack first? 👀

🎃 October Hopefuls: Throwback Thrifted Thursday Edition 📚🖤

Apparently my October reading mood is books I found in a haunted thrift store 🙃👻

I’ve been collecting these gloriously creepy throwback finds while thrifting, and October seemed like the perfect excuse to finally pull some of them off my shelves. Ghost stories, nightmares, blood, Halloween…and whatever is happening on that Headhunter cover💀

October hopefuls:

🕸️ Web of Dreams — V.C. Andrews
🎃 Hallows Eve — Al Sarrantonio
👻 The Random House Book of Ghost Stories — Susan Hill, ed.
🌙 Midnight — Dean Koontz
🩸 Books of Blood: Volume Three — Clive Barker
💀 Headhunter — Michael Slade

Will I read them all? No promises 😆👻 But I’m definitely hoping these thrifted beauties help me knock out a few squares on Spooky Bingo along the way!

🕯️ CURRENTLY READING: SALEM’S RISE 🖤

Published yesterday and I’m already halfway through because apparently this book decided to throw every single one of my fall reading weaknesses at me 🍂🧡

So far we have…

🎃 Chapter headings with the date + a countdown to Halloween
🔎 A missing roommate on a Salem campus…nothing concerning about that at all
🖤 Oh, and her brother is missing from the SAME campus
🥀 Three heirs descended from Salem’s founding families, and naturally they’re all ridiculously good looking men who smell like cedar because romantasy rules apply 😂
🗝️ An FMC with rugged, Oliver Twist outcast energy
📚 A gothic campus library built over original witch trial era buildings
🚪 Hidden passageways
🩸 Blood sacrifice
🕯️ The Blackhollow Ball on Halloween night…because OF COURSE
🏚️ Blackthorn Manor
🐈‍⬛ A mysterious black ghost cat

I’m only halfway through, but the atmosphere is ATMOSPHERING 🖤 It’s gothic dark academia + mystery + deadly games + romance, and I am having such a good time with it!!! 👻

Salem’s Rise by @rektokross is out now! 🕯️🖤

QOTD: Which one of these would get this book onto your TBR immediately?

🎠✨ HAPPY RELEASE DAY to CAROUSEL by @bethbestbooks ✨🎠

This book had me making theories and changing them approximately every five minutes 🙃 Between the skyships, blood magic, war, political intrigue, and the whole soulmates vs. star crossed lovers situation, I had QUESTIONS!

And somewhere along the way I became firmly Team Drake, I will not be taking questions at this time 😌😂

✨ Steampunk romantasy
⚙️ Magic vs. technology
⚔️ Wartime setting + political intrigue
🎠 Forced proximity
💫 Soulmates vs. star-crossed lovers
👀 Love triangle…sort of

Twisty, morally messy, and full of reveals I genuinely didn’t see coming!, the second half absolutely hooked me! 4⭐️ from me!

Happy Release Day, Beth!! 💕🎠 CAROUSEL is out now!
Thank you @booksandbloompr & @bethbestbooks for the ARC! 💕🎠
QOTD: Are you usually Team Fate or Team Choose Your Own Destiny in romance? 👀
