Last month, I announced I was working on my next, most ridiculous, collection & art party "Afternoon Spaghetti." Due to unforseen issues (involving an impenetrable garage & time restrictions) ... As some of you know, I've taken my first extended sabbatical from work. I've worked my a** off for as long as I can remember. Multiple jobs through several years of college, consulting on dozens if not near 100 different projects, starting my own pharma venture at a young age .... I've always hustled. I've always worked hard.

**** Entrepreneurship is an addiction.

**** Workaholism, even if you're doing what you love, is real. And, as a young, single, female, entrepreneur in predominantly male-run industries - it definitely took its toll.

*** I was almost always stressed. I chased the peaks and feared the lows, never truly allowing myself to linger in the spaces in between.

**** I had to work from my masculine, my alpha, side. I had something to prove and something to do.

*** You would think a sabbatical would come easily. But it didn't. I constantly worried that I wasn't doing enough - with my life, for others, for society as a whole.

*** Slowly I was able to relax Into my feminine for the first time in a decade.

*** Plant a garden, run barefoot through the grass, cook good meals, read books, play in my art, travel, meditate in silence, sleep in, move slow, laugh freely, and spend more consciously present time with friends.

*** What you create, what you can give to the world, is a projection of what is inside. And sometimes your most important job is to nurture yourself.

*** It's clear to me now how much my community needs me, why I get involved in so many projects and ventures, and what I both have to offer and *want* to give.

*** Just a friendly PSA to anyone who needs to hear this - that's it's OK to take breaks, for as long as you need. It's OK to be still. To just be. To experience life as is and find contentment in that.

*** As my sabbatical ends, I've decided to dissolve my R&D co in favor of focusing on consulting - which I find more fulfilling and impactful.
