One thing I want Loud Conversations to continue doing is using the platform to shine light on resources and spaces that can actually help our community.

In this part of my conversation with 24Kay, I took a moment to highlight two spaces here in Charleston created for men to talk, build, network, decompress, and be around other men without feeling like they always have to carry everything alone.

🗣️ The Men’s Cave — a safe space for men created by @beimpactfulfoundation , a Charleston nonprofit.

👑 @thekingstable843 — another men’s gathering happening once a month at @luxecigarloungesc on Ashley Phosphate Road.

Sometimes men don’t need somebody preaching at them.

Sometimes we just need a room where we can talk, listen, connect, and be ourselves.

That’s community. 💯

And this is exactly why Loud Conversations will always be bigger than interviews.

Everybody sees the performances, interviews, and opportunities… but they don’t always see the heartbreak, setbacks, losses, and pressure behind the scenes.

The truth is, passion isn’t about feeling motivated every day. Passion is waking up when you don’t feel like it, pushing through the disappointments, and going harder when quitting would be easier.

A lot of people want the result. Few people are willing to live the process.

What’s meant for you won’t always come easy, but if it’s really your passion, you’ll keep showing up anyway. 💪🏽💙

SEASON 2, EPISODE 4 🎙️ | 24Kay

How do you respond when somebody tells you “NO”?

In this clip, 24Kay talks about hearing “no” plenty of times throughout his life — but instead of letting rejection stop him, it makes him push even harder.

For some people, no means stop.

For 24Kay, it sounds more like:

“Find another way.”

He also gives us more insight into his upbringing. His father was in the military, so growing up meant moving around, living in different places, meeting different people, and constantly adjusting to new environments.

And when you think about it, that can teach you something early:

Nothing stays comfortable forever. You learn how to adapt.

That’s something every artist, entrepreneur, and creator has to understand.

You’re going to hear no.
You’re going to get overlooked.
Doors are going to stay closed.

The question is:

Does rejection make you quit — or make you move differently?
