Dram Yards Wednesday Blue Plate Special is no joke! We’re honored to have been invited to experience Chef Nick Chavez’s Wednesday Blue Plate Special dinner at Dram Yard - a weekly chef driven dish that changes each month. Novembers dish is unreal.🥩 Korean braised short rib, glazed in hoisin, braised for 8 hours, cooled, rolled in cornstarch, and deep-fried for that perfect outer crunch… paired with wasabi mashed potatoes and pickled onions. A dream.For starters + small plates before the dreamy Blue Plate Special:🥬 Little Gem Caesar, Chef Nick’s twist using fish sauce instead of anchovies, topped with smoked trout roe and Thai basil.🌽 Street Corn Vichyssoise — traditionally a cold soup, but served warm with sweet cream corn stock, cotija, and Spanish paprika. Comfort in a bowl.🐓 Chicken Croquettes stole my heart: Joyce Farms thighs, a tarragon + chicken-stock roux reduced 90%, sitting on a sauce gribiche with house-made kimchi pickles and yuzu-dressed arugula.🍤 Shrimp Toast — shrimp mousse, deep fried, served over fish sauce caramel, topped with yuzu arugula + sesame.🍛 Curried Sweet Potato with coconut curry chickpeas and a bright pickled papaya salad. A stand out vegetarian moment! & of course we couldn’t forget about dessert! They feature a weekly-rotating seasonal cheesecake. On this weeks menu: 🍰 Green tea with caramelized honey sesame caramel and candied green tea leaves. Dreamy.& duh yes we had cocktails. It wouldn’t be a true girls night out without some delicious drinkie poo’s! 🥃 Venus Flytrap - vodka, cucumber, lime, aloe🥃 Here’s the Dill - gin, vermouth, lime, vanilla, dill Both amazing.Also… look for the hidden elephants around the restaurant — Dram Yard sits where Topsy the circus elephant once lived back in 1922. She even escaped from this very building.If you’re local: Wednesdays = Blue Plate + half-priced wine bottles. Don’t sleep on it! We’ll be back soon Chef Chavez!
