A breakup can be one of the most painful experiences to go through. It can leave you feeling lost, holding on to hope, or wondering if reaching out one more time will make things better.

Sometimes, healing begins by giving yourself the space to breathe, to grieve, and to reconnect with yourself.

If you’re going through this, or you know someone who is, I hope this article offers a little comfort and guidance. ❤️ by @therealaashima

Have you ever gone to your parents’ house and felt like you were no longer the adult you are today?

Suddenly, one comment can make you feel small. One tone can make your chest tight. One look can bring back the part of you that still feels unseen, compared, criticised, or not fully understood.

And then you leave thinking, “Why did I react like that?”

Try to understand, maybe you were not reacting only to today. Maybe your body was remembering all the times you had to defend yourself, explain yourself, or fight to be heard.

So if family visits leave you anxious, angry, guilty, or drained, please don’t shame yourself. There may be a younger part of you still trying to feel safe in that room.

Healing begins when you notice that part with kindness and remind yourself, “I am not that powerless child anymore. I can pause. I can breathe. I can choose differently.”

Sometimes the family may not change overnight.

But the moment you stop entering the room from the same old wound, something inside you begins to feel lighter.

And that is where your power starts coming back.

Want to message your ex? Pause and tap with me.

This short EFT tapping practice is for the moment when the silence feels painful and your body is reaching for the familiar person. You can miss them and still choose space. One breath, one urge, one moment at a time — you come back to yourself.

Why no contact feels so hard after a breakup.

When you want to message your ex, pause first.

No contact is not punishment. It is protection.

You are allowed to miss them and still choose space.

Because sometimes the urge to message them is not really about the message. It is about wanting to feel steady again. Your body is reaching for the familiar person, the routine, the comfort, the hope, and the version of life you thought you were still going to have.

Try to understand, every time you check their profile, reread old messages, or wait for a sign, you give the wound another reason to stay open.

So pause. Breathe. Put your feet on the floor. Remind yourself, “This is an urge. I do not have to follow it.”

One urge at a time. One breath at a time. You come back to yourself.

Are you releasing… or rehearsing?

You are allowed to say, “I am hurt.”

But try to understand — if you keep repeating the same story, your nervous system keeps living inside it.

So pause and ask:

“Am I saying this to heal, or to stay stuck?”

Then gently ask:

“What do I need now?”

Beautiful healing starts when you bring your energy back to yourself.

A client once said to me, “I know I don’t want to do it, but the moment I say no, my stomach drops.”

She had taken early retirement, but instead of feeling like life had opened up, she felt like she had even less time for herself. She was there for her sister when babysitting was needed. She was going with her mum to appointments, helping with cooking, helping around the house, being available for everyone. On the outside, it all looked normal. Loving, even.

But the moment she tried to say no to one thing, the guilt came in straight away. Not just in her mind, in her body. Tight chest. Dropping stomach. That horrible feeling of, “I’ve done something wrong.”

You see, that is the part people do not always understand. Sometimes guilt is not there because your boundary is wrong. Sometimes it is there because no does not feel safe yet.

For many people, saying no feels like disappointing someone, being selfish, or risking love. So even a healthy boundary can feel bad at first.

And that’s okay.

Do you struggle more with saying no, or with the guilt that comes after? by @therealaashima

The mind is a great storyteller - but not always an honest one.
Most of us don’t realize how long we’ve been living inside a story we never chose to believe.

Strength isn’t always about pushing through - sometimes it’s about having the courage to slow down, breathe, and let yourself feel.
You are doing better than you think. And you deserve the same gentleness you give to everyone else.
Take up space. Take your time. You matter.
