One of the greatest signs of spiritual maturity is the willingness to examine yourself.

Before blaming the enemy, ask yourself: Why did I respond that way? What was I thinking? What was driving my attitude?

Scripture reminds us, “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.” (2 Corinthians 13:5)

If there’s an area of your life God has been calling you to examine, don’t ignore it. Sit with it, pray through it, and ask Him what He’s trying to reveal to you. by @therealarbernard

A man’s greatest challenge isn’t success, it’s identity.

When a man knows who he is, he gains stability. When he understands his calling, he gains direction. When he develops character, he earns credibility. And when he cultivates healthy relationships, he discovers meaning.

Many men are aiming toward achievement, status, and recognition when the real work begins within.

Healthy relationships require boundaries.

Jesus taught us to pray, “forgive us our trespasses,” because He understood that people can cross lines they were never meant to cross.

Boundaries are not about keeping people out, they are about stewarding your peace, your purpose, and your relationships well. by @therealarbernard

On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we’re reminded of the painful history of marginalized groups that have been devalued because of who they are.

But society does not determine human worth. God does!

Before we teach children what they can accomplish, we must help them understand that their lives have meaning.

Meaning precedes purpose. In other words, children need to understand who they are, whose they are, and the value God has placed on their lives before they can fully understand what He has called them to do.

We must teach them early that their worth isn’t defined by their achievements.

Share this with a young person and remind them that they are loved, they matter, and their life has purpose. by @therealarbernard

On October 6, a dream thirty years in the making became a reality with the official groundbreaking ceremony for NPF’s future home at 299 Degraw Street in Brooklyn. This monumental milestone marks the transformation of a neighborhood landmark into a beacon of musical opportunity. This building is more than bricks and mortar. It's a promise to the next generation that music, opportunity, and hope will always have a place in our community.

The $17.8 million City-funded project will completely transform the historic Degraw Street firehouse over the next two years into a state-of-the-art home for music in the heart of Brooklyn. Yesterday’s groundbreaking ceremony featured remarks from civic and community leaders including the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Diya Vij and NYC Department of Design and Construction Commissioner Paul Ochoa, who both shepherded this project, long-time supporter, Chief Chaplain of the NYPD, and Founder of the Christian Cultural Center Pastor A. R. Bernard, NYC District 33 Councilmember Lincoln Restler who funds NPF’s programs in 7 schools, and Assemblywoman Jo Anne Simon.

Onlookers were treated with a performance by Pilar Hill, a brilliant NPF alumnus and Juilliard-trained violinist who performs internationally. Pilar’s talent and commitment to her craft embodies the mission and soul of NPF.

A big thank you to NPF's amazing funders for their unwavering belief in our mission. We look forward to sharing more updates as construction progresses and music begins to fill Degraw Street!

Last week in Atlanta, I had the honor of participating in 30 for 30, an event hosted by the Leading Leaders Collective.

I had the opportunity to share the stage with Dr. Henry Cloud and gather with respected leaders for conversations centered on leadership, ministry, family, and personal growth.

Leadership is more than what we do publicly. It’s about becoming men of God who steward our time, talents, and treasures well and act as servant leaders.

I’m grateful to have been part of a gathering that reminded us that leaders need to be strengthened, too! taken in Atlanta by @therealarbernard

54 years later, we still choose each other!

Through every season, milestone, and blessing, God has been faithful.

After 54 years, I can truly say, “Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:8)

Last week, I attended the 11th Annual National Day of Remembrance for Murdered Victims hosted by Harlem Mothers and Fathers S.A.V.E.

As an NYPD Chaplain, it was meaningful to stand with families and community leaders as we honored lives lost too soon.

The evening included a heartfelt tribute honoring victims and remembering community leaders we have lost, including The Honorable Charlie Rangel, Dr. Hazel Dukes, and Lloyd Williams.

We remember their lives, honor their legacies, and continue working toward a better, stronger and safer community. taken in Harlem by @therealarbernard

Yesterday, I spoke at the groundbreaking for Noel Pointer Foundation’s new home in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

The foundation will change the historic Engine Company 204 firehouse into a permanent home for music education.

I’ve known and supported this vision since its beginning nearly 30 years ago. To see this taking shape was truly a full-circle moment! taken in Brooklyn, New York by @therealarbernard
