A couple weeks ago I was given awarded the California On Location Award (COLA) for Location Assistant of Year. It was a great honor and a fitting way to end the best year of my life.

Today was my final day on S7 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

This show is special to me because it was my 1st job in the industry. I’ll skip over a lot of details, but it was Aug 2014 and I’d been working at LA Fitness as a physical training salesman. I’d been back in LA for about 18months now and throughout that time had sporadically been checking in with Location Managers to see if they had any openings. Since I wasn’t a Union member there had to be certain conditions in order for me to get employed. I went into work the final Friday of August & my Regional Manager tells me I’m getting a promotion. I’m going to be the new Training Director for the Long Beach club. This position comes with a salary, benefits, & bonus incentives. As someone who dropped out of college I was ecstatic because in my mind I’d finally “made it.” “Making it” meaning I’d found a respectable & stable job so I could get the stigma of not graduating off my back. I told the Regional Manager I was grateful & excited to start, but I had a trip planned that to go down to TX & hangout w/ my boys that weekend (Sat-Mon). He said “No problem we can start you Tues.”

The next day I’m down in TX carpooling w/ my boys @jbxwilliams , @rowe_verb , & Gramless Levi otw to New Orleans. About 1/2 way through the drive I get a call from Location Manager @donny_jr__ telling me that after nearly a year of checking in he finally has 3 days of work for me on his show AOS (S3 at the time). I tell him “of course!” but then reality sets in & I tell him about my promotion & ask if it’s ok if I think about it? He says he understands & gives me until the end of the weekend to decide. I tell my boys about the call, we celebrate, but secretly I’m terrified because I know if I work the 3 days next week I’m basically forfeiting my new position. Later I call my Dad for his insight. He says “The smart thing to do would be to take the promotion... But if you take the days be sure that this is REALLY what you want to do because there’s no turning back.” After some soul searching I decided to take the 3 days of work. Those 3 days turned into a career. I’m eternally grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this show. taken in Culver Studios by @therealbeal
