I usually post about the great rip I get from @topps. Unfortunately when it came to the two "hobby" boxes that I bought for their 2026 Series 2 Baseball, that wasn't the case. Two numbered cards in the first box and two numbered cards in this box. Really???
The absolute WORST PART about this second box is that I didn't even get my "GUARANTEED" autograph or relic card. I get it @fanatics. Now that you bought Topps you just wanna squeeze every single penny out of the loyal baseball card collector.
If you're gonna guarantee something to the customer though, you gotta come through. If you don't, then you just look like a shystering fraud. C'mon guys. You know that we can see this nonsense right? Excuse the rant, but this is getting pretty old from these money grabbing companies. WE CAN SEE YOU...

Today is the last day of May. It's also the last day of National Burger Month. So I wanted to share the "fancy" sit down restaurant burger that I decided to have this year. Thanks to some of you I decided to go to @pasjoli.sm in Santa Monica. A beautiful French restaurant that's known for their presses Duck dish that goes for about $350. You know me though, I had to keep it simple.
I ordered their PJ burger, which is a burger patty made of a rich blend of dry-aged ribeye and beef tenderloin. It is then pan-roasted to medium and basted with butter, garlic, shallots and thyme. On top is a charred red onion au poivre, fried shallots and white cheddar cheese. With a bone marrow aioli placed inside of their house made brioche bun.
Needless to say, it was extremely delicious and layered with so many flavors. They massive red onion though really made it. I wanna thank @jennisaravi for being so kind and treating me to this amazing meal. As well as thank @don_buffalo_56 and @kitty81love for joining me as well. This meal was just that much better, since I got to enjoy it with great friends.

I just wanted to thank Julian over at @mojosbrewingco for this delivery that arrived to my house so quickly, I thought it was delivered on the Millennium Falcon in under 12 parsecs. These four beers are part of his latest drop in honor of Star Wars Day on May 4th. He also has two other IPA's that are available as well. Thanks again Mojos!
Now I'll definitely be celebrating the fourth properly. Cheers! 🍻

Style: West Coast IPA

By the time I post this, the Monkish tap room in Echo Park will be "officially" open for business. In honor of that I wanted to post a couple of the beers that I had for their first day of their soft opening, back on March 7th. I am fortunate enough to have been the first person to have a beer "inside" of this new tap room. So I had to go with the West Coast Expansion, since it was made in honor of the new spot.
It was really clean imo. A bit more on the crisp side, with plenty of citrusy notes to it. It's a great beer to enjoy on a hot day, or to catch a clean buzz after a few of these. Being the Monkish fiend that I am, I had to bring my own glassware to the party (last slide). I had to go with something hazy this time. So I went with their "Hay Cuz". A double dry hopped, hazy IPA with Citra and Motueka hops.
I had plenty of other beers there since I got there just before they opened at 5pm. And I stayed until the very end when they closed at 10pm. It was great running into friends from the OG Torrance Monkish days, as well as friends from the old Beer Belly Koreatown days. And a big THANK YOU to @eric.alas and everyone there for making it a fun night. If you're near Echo Park make it a point to pass by. Cheers! 🍻

Today is the day we're with our Beverly Hills client, but our Monday client has a chimney cleaning company coming by today. So I got sent to meet them and am just waiting on them to arrive. This client unfortunately had to vacate their home due to last years Palisades fires. Even though their house didn't burn down (or at all), their home was deemed uninhabitable due to all of the smoke damage.
So I'm in their garage looking at all the stuff that they are having replaced by the insurance company. And a lot of it seems to be golf equipment. A ridiculous amount of golf clubs, putters and all sorts of training equipment to improve your golf game. This is one of the toys I was tinkering with.
I used to play quite a bit with my friends starting around my early/mid 20's. It's been several years though since I last played though. Maybe this is a sign to get back out there and give myself some unnecessary stress. 😆

I have been REALLY lagging on the craft beer posts. My apologies for that. I'm gonna do my best to change that this year. Speaking of 2026, I am gonna be trying a new thing with my posts. I'll be posting an AI generated animated photo to go along with a picture of the beer that I'm reviewing. So let me know what you think of the new style.
I cracked open this Irish Gold from Sullivan's Brewing Company in Kilkenny, Ireland for lunch today. It's definitely not a style that I usually go with, but I had to change things up. This beer was malt forward. And had a bready type flavor to it after an initial crisp mouthfeel. It's not a flavor I'm used to in American Golden Ales.
Either way it was an enjoyable beer. I feel as if you could have three or four of these and it would fill you up just like a meal would. Cheers! 🍻

Beer: Barrel Aged Little Twin Stars (2025)
Style: Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
ABV: 15.5%

This was the other release that I picked up from Monkish a month ago today. This BA Little Twin Stars is another Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. Except this one was aged in @willettdistillery, @buffalotracedistillery, @wellerbourbon and @heavenhilldistillery bourbon barrels for 48 to 50 months. It was also conditioned on coconut, as well as Ivory Coast cacao nibs. So basically it's a boozy Mounds chocolate bar.
I was also able to try this on tap the day of the pick up. As well as from the bottle on Christmas Eve. On tap this tasted exactly like the chocolate bar that I had previously mentioned. It may have been too sweet for some, but I thought it was perfect. The mouthfeel was thick and almost chewy. The coconut was definitely noticeable. As well as the chocolate. Superb!
The night I tried it from the bottle it was also very good. Unfortunately I had a few drinks before that. So my review of it may be a bit corrupted. Or maybe I was just so enamored with the memories of the day I had it on tap that it was hard to live up to that again. All the flavors I previously described were there. Just not as prevalent. I can't wait to give it another go though, down the road. Cheers!

Beer: Rumors On The Street
Style: Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
ABV; 16%

This was one of two bottles that I picked up from Monkish exactly one month ago today. This was when they first dropped. I was able to try it on tap at the brewery, as well as straight from the bottle recently. It was made in collaboration with Evil Twin Brewing. An Imperial Stout aged in SINE QUA NON full bodied red wine barrels for 67 months. So these were barrel aged since 2019.
Here are my takes on it from the two seperate times that I tried this. When I had it at the brewery on tap I really didn't find anything really special about it. In my opinion it was a bit on the thin side as far as mouthful goes. I was able to get some of the barrel flavor from it, but it reminded me of a Russian BA Stout. Nothing more. And nothing less.
When I had it from the bottle though there was a dramatic difference. It had a much fuller mouthfeel, and the barrel really stood out. And it may just be me, but I feel as if I even got a subtle red wine flavor to it as well. This is definitely a beer to be enjoyed out of the bottle. I'm definitely gonna wait much longer to enjoy the second one. Cheers!

I actually bought a 4-pack of this Double IPA (w/ Idaho 7 and Sabro hops) a few weeks ago from here. So I'm cheating again. 😆 I had to though, because this is just so juicy and good. And please forgive me for the full blown chug, but as I stated...it is GOOD. Cheers! 🍻

Beer: Slammer
Style: Fruited Berliner Weisse
ABV: 5%
I had to make a SHARP left and change direction with this one. I went with a sour. And this Berliner Weisse w/ Passion Fruit, Orange and Guava definitely hit the spot. It was super fruity and refreshing. I definitely got the Guava in this. As well as some citrus flavor from the Orange.
This beer was so good on so many levels. I highly recommend. This if you ever come across it and are looking for a tart and fruity treat. Cheers! 🍻
