My sweet Dad.

I don’t think there will ever be enough words to tell you how much I love you and how fond I am of the person you are. From the way you laughed, to singing with you in the car, to our phone calls that were never a minute short of an hour, to the life advice that came in the funniest forms at the funniest times, to the voicemails I’ll keep forever, and the memories I’ll cherish for the rest of my life, you have constantly loved me and everyone around you so fully, loudly, and with a passion and care that resounded in everything you did.

I’m very lucky to have a beautiful family and loving friends, but there’s not a person in the world that I love as much as I loved you. I am forever proud to be told that I am Gene Gordon’s daughter through and through, that I look like you and act like you, and I will wear that with honor and pride for the rest of my life. I’ve never met someone who lived their life to the fullest, enjoyed every moment, traveled, and loved the Lord and loved life the way you did. You truly did it all in your time here and have left me with so much wisdom and lived experience to carry with me and guide me for the rest of my life.

Never did I think I’d say goodbye to my dad at 23, but it is an honor to have loved someone so much that it makes grieving this hard and hurts this deeply. What a beautiful thing it is to be human and to also know that the goodness and sacrifice of God allows me to carry you with me for now and see you again one day in heaven, Dad. I love you forever. I will always be your Brookie Cookie, your little bird, and I will always be so proud of you and the person you are. It is an honor to be your daughter, and thank you for choosing me.
