One of my favorite things about social media platforms is being able to engage and be in community with my favorite independent artists. @syberspace and @erro44 have built amazing communities with their fans in addition to creating and putting out some of the best TRADITIONAL R&B music. I ordered this album a few weeks ago on Sy’s birthday. A day or so later she emailed me to tell me she was out of town performing but when she gets back to L.A. she would autograph the album and get it shipped to me. Your favorite artist would never! 😂😂 I was in Dallas for 2 weeks for work and when I got in last night I had this package waiting for me. This is why we should always support our favorite independent artists! by @therealcarlosj

Had a nice surprise waiting on me when I got home yesterday. I forgot that pre-ordered this last year. “Me Against The World” is my favorite of Tupac’s album. In my opinion it is his most focused and consistent work. The Easy Moe Bee production is also top notch. #hiphop #music #vinyl #vinylcollection by @therealcarlosj

I received this awesome piece of history from my daughter Lola as a Christmas gift. It is an original pristine copy from 1963. Berry Gordy thought it would be a great idea to record the speeches from the March On Washington and sell it to the public with Dr. King’s approval. All proceeds went to SCLC. #blackhistory #vinyl #vinylcollector #mlk #mlkday by @therealcarlosj

As many times as Ive been in #memphis I just learned about @earnestinehazels today! I will go by any bar that shows up on any “best of” list and this spot did not disappoint. The only food options are single or double patties on their world famous Soul Burger. That’t it, no other food choice but no other choice is needed because that burger is 🔥🔥🔥. #travel #worktravel #bars #divebar by @therealcarlosj

Sunday nights are for jazz at Jones Juke Joint. Tonight I am listening to one of my Christmas gifts from my daughter Lola- an original 1956 copy of Duke Ellington’s “Ellington At Newport”. #jazz #vinyl #music #vinylcollection #vinylcollector by @therealcarlosj

Sinatra and @jackdaniels_us - the perfect pairing. I know Frank loved Old #7 but I got a feeling he would have dug Gentleman Jack as well! Im spinning an original 1966 promo copy of Sinatra At The Sands. Quincy Jones conducting the Count Basie Orchestra to perfection. #jazz #bigband #vinyl #vinylcollector #vinylcollection #music whiskey #bourbon by @therealcarlosj

Back in 2001 @heineken_us dropped a promo album that featured most of the “neo soul” stars of the era- noticeably missing was D’Angelo. Due to its limited promo run I could never find the CD so I did what most music lovers were doing back in 2001- I downloaded it off of Limewire or Kazaa. I never knew it dropped on vinyl as well until about a month ago. So almost 25 years later I have an official copy of Red Star Sounds Volume One: Soul Searching. #music #randb #neosoulmusic #vinyl #vinylcollector #vinylcollection #discogs by @therealcarlosj
