As a parent I will always ferociously protect my children. So grateful for this platform and the ability to connect with other families who, like me, have an unyielding commitment to championing neurodiversity while ensuring that our kids live purpose-filled lives. 💙💙 #austim by @therealdadsofnewyork

A scholarship can help pay the tuition. It does not guarantee the services your child needs.

As an educator and a parent of a child with a disability, this is the part I need families to understand before signing anything.

The new federal scholarship tax credit starts January 1, 2027. If you’re considering using a scholarship to move your child to private school, know this: when parents choose a private placement, their child generally does not have the same individual entitlement to special education services they have in public school.

“We support students with IEPs” is not enough. Ask for specifics in writing:

• Which services will my child receive?
• How often, and from whom?
• What qualifications do those providers hold?
• What happens if those services aren’t delivered?

I understand why a different school can feel like a lifeline. You deserve to know exactly what you’re choosing.

Share this with every parent you know, especially a parent navigating an IEP. Send it to the parent group chat. Families need this information BEFORE they enroll. #education #parenting by @therealdadsofnewyork

10 years old. 🥹 I’m not sure my heart was ready for double digits!!

I can still remember meeting Tim for the first time. I remember looking at him and having absolutely no idea how much that little boy was about to change our lives.

Timothy made us parents.

Before we knew what we were doing. Before we understood how much parenthood could stretch you, humble you, scare you, exhaust you and somehow make your heart bigger at the exact same time.

And now, somehow, a whole decade has passed.

Our journey with Timothy hasn’t always looked like the version of parenthood we imagined. There are things we’ve had to learn, things we’ve had to let go of, and milestones we’ve learned not to measure against anyone else’s.

But loving him? That part has always been easy.

Ten years of his laugh. His hugs. His rhythms. His joy. Ten years of getting to know the incredible little human who first gave us the name Dad.

Happy 10th birthday, Timothy. ❤️💙

You made us parents. And you changed us forever. #birthday by @therealdadsofnewyork

I grew up with a stutter that made me question whether my voice belonged in the room.

And now I get invited to stand on stages and keynote for state and national organizations.

Man… that part will never be normal to me.

Not because the stutter magically disappeared. Not because I suddenly became fearless. But because somewhere along the way, I stopped believing that struggling to get the words out meant I had less to say.

And now, as a dad, it all means even more.

When I talk about schools, leadership, boards, and what kids deserve, I’m not just speaking as someone who has spent his career in education. I’m thinking about my own children too. About the kind of adults I want making decisions for them. About the kind of schools I want them walking into every day.

So yeah, every time I get handed a microphone, there’s still a part of me that thinks about that little boy who sometimes wished talking came easier.

I wish he could see us now.

Turns out the voice he worried about so much would one day take him places he couldn’t even imagine.

26 years ago, 13-year-old me won a contest to dance with Britney Spears on TRL. 😂

This clip somehow goes viral like 4 times a year, so I figured it was finally time to show the people where that kid ended up.

Still here. Still dancing. Just with bills now. 😇😂
