EDDIE C — LIVE AT SONDER LISTENING BAR

Eddie C is a Canadian-born DJ, producer, and lifelong record collector whose deep roots in hip-hop, acid house, disco, edits, and underground dance music have shaped his signature sound. A prolific producer and remixer, he has released music on respected labels including Endless Flight, Jiscomusic, Crue-L, Sleazy Beats, and Wolf Music. Known worldwide for his eclectic, deep, groove-heavy DJ sets, Eddie C has become a defining figure in the modern slow-mo, disco, and edit scene.

Joining him is DJ Maxx Bass, Portland DJ and owner of Clinton Street Records, who has been digging and DJing for 30 years, bringing a mix of funk, soul, disco, house, hip-hop, and global sounds to the dance floor.

Hectic urban grooves with subtle hints of city pop, Japanese psychedelic techno, & dream house all infuse this EP with an exciting phosphorescence across its varied moods. The title track is a majestic, lumbering synth odyssey - think M83 or Prins Thomas on their way home. By contrast, Hagstrom Funk maintains the colorful atmosphere but dials up the frenetic energy into a bubbling boogie. On the flip, legend of the Balearic sound Eddie C unwinds the beat into an almost drunken lope - massaging the majesty of the original into a twisted and cheeky trip. Memorable work, all round.

LAST MINUTE PARTY ALERT!

This Saturday, July 18th we have the pleasure of hosting Eddie C for an evening party in our favourite open-air location from 4-10.

There are some that have a sixth sense for what a dancing crowd needs, and Eddie C fits firmly in that upper echelon of artists. With a production repertoire dating back to 2009, both he and his music have made it around the world and back (literally!). If disco and house are timeless, then Eddie C is one of their finest storytellers.

This Breezeway hosted one of our favourite nights of last summer, and we’re running it back with Indeed Soundsystem. Eddie C, Almost Magic, dualctzn and malek will be in the mix from 4–10, soundtracking an evening of open-air dancing as the sun goes down.

Come early, stay till close, move your body.

We are supremely excited to welcome low key international DJ superstar Eddie C to The Downbeat for the first time. He has released an impressive array of music across a wide spectrum of labels including Razor-N-Tape, Karat, Crue-L, Sleazy Beats, Jiscomusic and Lumberjacks in Hell. Eddie has recently toured Asia then a quick stop in Detroit. We have seen him on posters in past year with DJ Harvey and Bepe Loda. He has just launched his new label, Disko Universal while still pouring out edits on Red Motorbike. Don’t sleep, as this will be a special night, pairing him with Victoria house music legend Mr. Moe for a deep dive into both selectors crates. This one is for the dancers. We’d love to see you.
