I don’t often use this platform for political commentary, but this moment deserves it.

I was born in Canada to Iranian parents who were forced to leave everything behind. I grew up with history living inside our home. My parents spoke of a country that once felt like paradise and how, almost overnight, it was taken from them. Those scars never fully healed, and my brother @jimagen and I grew up knowing we had to work hard, protect our family, and never take freedom for granted.

Being Iranian was always a source of pride. The food, the music, the culture, the celebrations never left us, even when we were teased and bullied as kids. My father was Iran’s national ping-pong champion, and his best friend growing up was the national wrestling champion the world later knew as @therealironsheik . Our grandfathers were entrepreneurs, one among the first to bring Aspirin to Iran and the other with a major real estate portfolio. Iran wasn’t just where we came from. It was who we were.

There was one name cursed daily in our home: Khomeini. Not as a political figure, but as the man who destroyed my parents’ world and millions of others. A tyrant whose cruelty reshaped generations, and whose damage did not end with him.

For 47 years, Iranians have lived with executions, repression, and stolen freedom. Every time hope appeared, it was crushed.

But right now, something feels different. With the world watching, there is real hope that a free Iran is no longer just a dream.

Thank you to those who have reached out with real care and solidarity. And to those who stay silent, that silence is being noted.

For my parents. For my family. For our people. For the future. by @therealironsheik
