🌕on the evening of Friday May 1st 2026 at 9:22pm my father, Mario Jose Casas AKA “Pepe” took his final breath 🙏🏼Surrounded by his loved ones, he said his final good bye. My father was a lot of things and wore many hats, but the one the one I’ll miss the most, is my best friend🫶🏼My person in this world. The one person who knew how I was feeling before I could even express it. The only person to ever have the patience to deal with my emotions all at once head on and steady fast. He was my first call everyday and my last call every night. He showed me how to love fearlessly and whole heartedly. He taught me the meaning of friendship. How you show up for the people you love, cause in the end, the gifts won’t matter, it’s the memories that carry on. The best parts of me are 100% him and I will carry him everyday until my last. He carried this soulful grace about him even when things were hard, you couldn’t shake his optimistic outlook on life. His consistent belief that everything was going to be okay. As I write this now, I know in my heart, that he did everything he possibly could to ensure we were okay. I’m okay dad and I promise you to be the best version of myself to my family, friends, and loved ones. Thank you for all the years of unconditional love and patience. You are and will always be my light. I love you with everything that I am and I’m so grateful for every moment I shared with you. Rest easy, you’ve earned it! Phūla has completed its fifth year of business, and we’re elated just thinking of the wonderful memories that await us in 2023. 💫

Starting a business from scratch is no easy task.

POV: A small business, one that had just completed its second year was about to endure a world pandemic. No one knew what to expect, how to prepare, and god willing— overcome it. Two years of carefully navigating our “new normal” (a path many entrepreneurs had never experienced nor encountered) phūla overcame it.

We kept our heads down, worked hard, and just celebrated five years of awesomeness this past November. Hard work and determination had a lot to do with it. Making small changes, looking within, and tweaking small bits… hoping it would all make a difference in the end. Well, it did. And a lot of what we accomplished is because we have an immense support system rooting for us from the sidelines. A lot of what made this all possible is the never ending energy you all share by choosing us, @phula_miami day-in and day-out. Choosing small, local businesses matter. YOU matter. And for that, we’re so very thankful. 🧡🙏🏻
