Just a girl who loves lifting weights...
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Is 'skinny' really trending again, I mean haven’t we already done this?....

Whilst everyone’s chasing smaller bodies, let's not completely ignore what actually keeps you healthy long term and that's muscle.

Muscle isn’t just for aesthetics. It's there so you can be strong, self reliant and don't break a hip when you get older.

Which brings me to Osteoporosis, a very common issue amongst ageing women.

Around 1 in 3 women over 50 will experience an osteoporotic fracture in their lifetime.

Globally, ~21% of women over 50 have osteoporosis (vs ~6% of men) and,

Women make up 80% of osteoporosis cases.

It's not random that women suffer from this more than men.
It’s built slowly through years of under eating, avoiding any kind of resistance training, and prioritising being “small” over being strong.

The good news, you can do something now that your future self will thank you for:
Lifting weights - 3 x a week
Eat enough protein -around 2g per kilo of bodyweight
And most importantly stop glorifying fragile.

Your future body is being built right now.

If you’re over 40 and still training like your goal is just to be smaller, it’s time to change the plan. by @thereallaurenwebb

Leo season is upon us 🦁

Whilst my birthday was on Friday, 08/08, last night I officially celebrated 46 years young 🌱

Feeling every bit stronger and healthier as the years go by, I choose to disallow my age to be a limitation on how I look and feel, and being the true Leo that I am, I don't like limitations of any kind anyways.

To my fellow Leo queens, Happy Birthday 🎈

There are so many reasons why you're not getting as jacked as you like, but here are just 5 reasons that play a huge role in muscle growth and fat loss:

1.YOU'RE NOT FOLLOWING A PLAN
2.YOU'RE NOT PROGRESSIVELY OVERLOADING
3.YOU'RE LEAVING TOO MANY REPS IN RESERVE
4. YOU CHANGE YOUR WORKOUTS TOO OFTEN BECAUSE YOU GET BORED
5.YOU'RE NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP

If you raised your hand to any of these drop a comment below ⬇️ by @thereallaurenwebb

Everyone's talking about or jumping on peptides, HRT, and GLP-1s right now, meanwhile they haven’t tracked a single day of food consistently.

Fat loss is and will always be calories in versus calories out.

Yes, hormones matter.
Yes, metabolism matters.
But you know what influences those things the most?
Your daily nutrition habits!

The basics that most women skip are:
• Eating the right calorie target
• Getting enough protein
• Balancing carbs and fats
• Building muscle through resistance training
• Being consistent for longer than two weeks
• Changing their lifestyle

Ironically, when you actually do these things:
• hunger becomes easier to manage
• blood sugar stabilises
• cortisol improves
• sex hormones are better supported
• metabolism functions better

In other words, all the things that women are trying to medicate themselves toward.

Yes HRT, peptides and GLP-1's absolutely have a place but they should support the basics of nutrition and training, not replace them.

If you can’t track your food consistently I'm sorry the problem isn’t your hormones, it's your habits. And no injection or pill will ever fix that.

If you are in the business of becoming a better version of yourself then Mel Robbins needn't an introduction.

She is a well known motivational speaker and is best known for her mindset tools like:
'The 5 Second Rule' (count 5-4-3-2-1 and take action) and 'The Let Them Theory' (stop trying to control others, focus on yourself)

Greateful to be able to share the evening with my beautiful Mumma who purchased us both Mel's book, that will now take me a year to read but I'll do my best.

People still think you need crazy protocols to achieve great results but that's not the truth.

What you do need is a plan, the right guidance and consistency.

Small consistent actions, when repeated over time lead to significant results. That means making those 1% changes on the daily, showing up when you can't be assed and doing that over and over again, also known as the compound effect.

Lift weights, eat more protein, drink plenty of water, eat predominantly whole foods, get 8 hours sleep, REPEAT. by @thereallaurenwebb

Its been almost 2 years and they say time heals all wounds. I disagree. The wounds never go away, you just learn how to live without them because you have no choice but to carry on.

If you’re a woman over 40 trying to look and feel your best, you’ve likely heard that you need to lift weights.

But lifting weights alone does NOT guarantee muscle growth or a changed body composition.
It's HOW you lift and your approach that matters most that will determine the difference between whether you actually see results or not.

Here are 3 things you need to know about lifting weights if you want to build muscle, improve metabolism, become a better fat burner, and build your best body over 40 👇

1. Holding dumbbells alone will NOT build muscle. Muscle grows when challenged.
If the weight never changes or never feels hard, your muscles are NOT being asked to adapt. Building muscle requires EFFORT close to your limit, where the last few reps bring you close to failure. Combo moves with DB’s will burn calories, but won’t change your body in the ways you want.

2. Lifting is about building not burning and most women are stuck in the idea of doing fast paced bootcamp style workouts, thinking sweating equals more results.
Strength training is different. It’s intentional, it's controlling a weight that is challenging through every rep, getting close to failure and resting between sets to allow maximum effort for your next set.
That is what builds muscle, improves metabolism and creates the 'toned' look over 40.

3. More does not equal better. Muscle is broken down in the gym but is built during rest and recovery.
Without enough recovery or sleep, your body stays stressed and your progress stalls.
Doing more without proper recovery, especially over 40, works against you.
We are looking for quality over quantity for a real change in body composition.

If you’re over 40, lifting, still feel soft and can't visbly see any definition then you need a new strategy.

Ladies you've been fed the wrong narrative for years and these bullshit myths need to stop.

❌️Hormones don’t stop fat loss.
❌️Stress doesn’t stop fat loss.
❌️Age doesn’t stop fat loss.

What stops fat loss is eating too much and a strategy that doesn’t match your life but instead keeps you stuck.

Yes, your body changes, but more importantly your lifestyle changes.
Less movement, less sleep, more stress and more responsibilities 😫

Fat loss however still works the same. It just needs to be implemented differently.

Stop believing the myths and start applying what actually works.

SAVE this if you’re done being told your body is the problem. 💪 by @thereallaurenwebb

Ladies if you're trying to lose fat and it's just not happening then here’s what might be holding you back:

• You’re not in a calorie deficit
• You’re barely eating
• You’re not strength training
• You’re off the rails on weekends
• You’re stressed or burnt out
• You expect it to happen fast

1. CALORIE DEFECIT IS KEY.
It doesn’t matter if you eat “clean,” keto, or gluten free. If you’re not burning more than you consume, your fat won’t budge.

2. STOP UNDER EATING.
Too few calories can slow your metabolism and cost you muscle.

3. STRENGTH TRAINING IS ESSENTOAL.
Muscle boosts metabolism and it shapes your body.

4. STAY CONSISTENT
One weekend binge can undo a week of progress so ask yourself when you feel like drinking alcohol or eating off track an entire weekend, is it really worth it!?
Remember short term pain for long term gain 💪

5. MANANGE STRESS.
Chronic stress messes with hunger hormones and fat storage.

6. BE PATIENT.
Slow progress is still progress. Results stick when your lifestyle changes and that takes time. Most people give up right before they see results. Don't be one of those people.

You might be doing one or all of these things if you’re not seeing the results you expected:

1️⃣ You’re not training close enough to failure
If your last reps aren’t genuinely hard, your muscles don’t get the signal to grow.
Pink dumbells and high rep workouts are going to give you minimal to no results.

2️⃣ Progressive overload is missing
The same weights and same reps week after week is why your body isn’t changing.
Your body adapts fast so you need to give it good reason to grow. That means increasing weights each week.

3️⃣ You don’t have enough muscle yet
To have definition you need muscle and low enough body fat to reveal it. Many women are actually just under muscled, not overfat.

4️⃣ Calories are too low for too long
Chronic dieting and being in a deficit for too long tells your body to survive, not build and muscle needs fuel, not just protein.

5️⃣ Stress + poor sleep
If you're highly stressed and aren’t getting enough sleep then reults will stall.
High cortisol blunts recovery and muscle growth. You can’t out train exhaustion.

6️⃣ You’re expecting results on a timeline that doesn’t match how women build muscle.
Women build muscle slower (that's biology, not your effort). Visible change often takes months and year's of consistent overload.

7️⃣ Cardio is replacing strength training
Muscle shape comes from resistance training and running, cycling and long HIIT circuits train your heart and lungs, not your muscles.
These are great for conditioning but they don’t create mechanical tension and so many women get this wrong.
