"These are the people that we come home to. So it makes sense that they learn what we learn."
A message from 10P Program founder Samual Nathaniel Brown to the governor, the president, district attorneys, public defenders, and everyone watching: rehabilitation is not static. Bringing the family into the process is the change.
Emotional literacy is for everybody with a heart.

In their words. Cindy, Krystle and little Rubi showed up for family, and helped make history at CSP-Solano.
"Whatever helps getting you home soon, and learning new stuff with you, I'm there." Cindy
"It's more like a family therapy." Krystle
Actions speak louder than words. Thank you for being here.

September 2026. CSP-Solano. For the first time in history, families walked inside to sit in the same circle and learn the same material as their loved ones in the 10P B.E.L.T. Program.
Not a visit. Not a performance. Shared learning, side by side.
B.E.L.T. means Bridging Emotional Literacy and Transition, because our Carceral Scholars are coming home, and the people they come home to deserve to learn what they learn.
Thank you to CSP-Solano and CDCR for opening the door.

NEW PODCAST EPISODE!

Is media made inside prisons a tool of collective empowerment, a promotional vehicle for prisons, an instrument of management—or all of the above?

Recorded live at UC Santa Cruz, THIS EPISODE IS BEING MONITORED brings together Visualizing Abolition co-director Rachel Nelson, filmmaker and organizer Thanh Tran, and cultural strategist Keisha Knight to explore the possibilities and contradictions of media-making under conditions of incarceration.

And yes, this episode was in fact monitored. Because one panelist joined from prison, portions of the conversation were recorded by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation—and some material has been edited to protect our incarcerated panelist.

We come from some of the most darkest places but we’re still able to create meaningful work. Hearts and minds was changed that day and that’s the purpose of art. Shout out to all my dogs still locked up and shout out to Leila for bringing the Mic Sessions into SQ to help create a classic. taken in San Quentin State Prison by @therealmaserati_e

NEW SEASON: LIVE FROM CARCERAL MEDIA ECOLOGIES
Can prison films confine our imagination?
In the first episode of our new season, Gina Dent joins filmmakers Adamu Chan and Gilda Sheppard to ask what becomes possible when we stop thinking of prisons simply as the subject of a “prison film.”

NOT A PRISON FILM is out now.
