Dominican Republic didn’t change my life.

The world did.

Before 2020, the script was simple:
Wake up. Commute. Office. Repeat.
Location = obligation.

Then everything broke.

And in that chaos, something better was built.

We realized something most people still haven’t fully accepted:
You don’t have to live where you work anymore.
You don’t have to build your life around a zip code.
You don’t have to wait for “someday.”

Now?
Your office can be wherever your laptop opens.
Your meetings can happen with ocean air in the background.
Your “lunch break” can look like stepping into water most people only see on vacation.

But here’s the truth most won’t say:

It’s not about the Dominican Republic.
It’s about the decision.

The decision to stop waiting.
The decision to stop asking for permission.
The decision to design your life instead of inheriting it.

Because this lifestyle?
It’s available.

But it requires something most people avoid:
Uncertainty.
Risk.
And the willingness to bet on yourself.

The Dominican Republic just happens to be one of those places that reminds you what life is supposed to feel like.

Slower mornings.
Real connections.
Fresh food.
Warm water.
A culture that actually lives… not just works.

And once you experience that…
It becomes really hard to go back to a life you didn’t choose.

So the real question isn’t:
“Can I do this?”

It’s:
“Am I willing to?”

If you believe life is meant to be lived on your terms—not someone else’s…. ❤️Like this video.

Most operators are asking the wrong question.

They ask:
“How do I get more leads?”
“How do I close more deals?”
“How do I scale faster?”

Wrong.

Because none of that matters if you don’t know what happens next.

That’s the question:
What happens next?

If a lead comes in… what happens next?
If a deal closes… what happens next?
If a client signs… what happens next?

Most businesses don’t have a growth problem.
They have a process problem.

And chaos doesn’t scale.

Here’s how you fix it:

5 Steps to Design an Effective Business Process:

Define the Outcome
If you don’t know the exact result you want, you’ll build a messy process. Be specific. “Client onboarded in 24 hours with zero confusion” is a real outcome. “Good onboarding” is not.

Map the Steps
Write every step from start to finish. No shortcuts. No assumptions. If a stranger can’t follow it, it’s broken.

Assign Ownership
Every step needs a person. If everyone owns it, no one owns it. Accountability is what makes processes actually work.

Systemize It
Turn the steps into systems. Automations. Checklists. SOPs. CRM workflows. If it lives only in your head, it’s a liability.

Optimize Ruthlessly
Measure where things break. Where leads drop. Where clients get confused. Then fix it. Repeat forever.

Simple scales.
Complex fails.

The businesses winning right now?
They don’t rely on talent.
They rely on systems.

So I’ll ask you again:

What happens next in your business?

And more importantly…

Did you design it, or did it just happen?

If you actually believe systems beat chaos, comment or hit the like 👍 button. by @therealmaxcruz

Its probably been over 20 years since I read the US Declaration of Independence. United States of America is first an idea and way of life formed by the people. That is what is being celebrated for the 250th time, that concept.

Today I read it again and something that stood out is the concept that people will elect to make changes throughout the years. Whatever political party you support, I hope you first support the idea of change and evolution and people’s right to enable those changes.

Everyone thinks that business is the same everywhere. To a certain extent, some foundational items are, but some are different in specific markets and cultures.

For example, in 🇩🇴 DR almost everyone communicates through WhatsApp. If your business systems don’t take this into account and you’re depending in calls or emails, you will cause major friction for your customers.

It was great connecting with other professionals and service leaders and learning how LATAM business culture is different than the US.

BTW, the food at the JW Marriott Santo Domingo was delicious and would highly recommend it. taken in JW Marriott Hotel Santo Domingo by @therealmaxcruz

Most tourists visiting Puerto Plata will never find places like this.

They’ll see the restaurants, resorts, nightlife, and kite surfers…

But the real hidden gems are outside the city.

Local families.
Fresh seafood straight from the ocean.
Bonfires on the beach.
Camping under the stars.
Real experiences you can’t fake.

The crazy part?

Many of these businesses barely exist online.

No website.
No booking system.
No marketing team.

Meanwhile, people everywhere are actively searching for unique, authentic experiences exactly like this.

That’s where AI becomes powerful.

Not replacing people.
Helping good people get discovered.

I’m thinking about building this family a FREE AI-powered Canva website and documenting the entire process step-by-step so other small business owners can learn how to do this too.

If you want to see me build it, comment: BUILD IT.

And if you’re ever visiting Puerto Plata and want to experience this hidden spot for yourself, send me a DM and I’ll connect you directly with them.

Today I visited the Russian consulate in Santo Domingo and walked away thinking about something bigger than politics, headlines, or social media narratives.

The internet constantly pushes division.
Different countries.
Different cultures.
Different opinions.

But when you actually meet people, travel, and experience real conversations… you realize most humans want the same things:
family, opportunity, connection, safety, purpose, and a better future.

AI helped me create the cinematic vision for this video.
But the real value still came from human interaction.

That’s the future I believe in:
using AI to enhance connection — not replace it.

If you’re a business owner trying to use AI WITHOUT losing the human touch, I’d genuinely like to hear your thoughts.

AI isn’t just for tech companies.
It’s not just for startups or Silicon Valley.
It works in your Airbnb. Your tax strategy. Your motel. Your restaurant. Your agency.
If you have data and decisions, AI has an opinion.
And that opinion is usually worth money.
I was in a room full of Airbnb hosts last week.
Some doing $5K a month. Some doing $30K.
Same market. Same platform. Wildly different results.
The difference wasn’t location. It wasn’t luck.
It was information. Specifically, what they did with it.
I showed them how to feed their booking data, reviews, and pricing history into AI.
In one session, one host found out his listing was converting at half the rate of his closest competitor.
Not because of the property. Because of how the listing was positioned.
He fixed it in 48 hours.
Every business owner I work with has the same problem.
They’re sitting on data they’re not using.
Revenue numbers. Customer feedback. Occupancy rates. Expense patterns.
AI reads all of it and tells you exactly where the leak is and what to fix first.
Real estate investor. Service business owner. Short-term rental host.
Doesn’t matter the industry. Same process. Same result: clarity.
If your business is running you instead of the other way around, take the free 60-second AI Systems Assessment in my bio.
Find out exactly where you’re leaking time and money.
Personalized results. Free fix guide. Instant.
Built for business owners doing $500K to $20M.

Everyone thinks AI is going to replace service businesses.

No.

AI is going to replace bad service businesses.

I walked in for a haircut in the Dominican Republic and got:

• Facial mask
• Exfoliating massage
• Coffee
• Drinks
• Hair wash
• Full styling

That’s not a haircut.
That’s an experience.

AI can’t replace that.

But AI can:
• Improve consistency
• Improve systems
• Improve customer experience
• Help teams deliver at scale

The businesses that win won’t remove the human touch.
They’ll upgrade it.

Are you using AI to cut costs… or create better experiences?

Everyone is selling AI content automation right now.
New tools.
New prompts.
New “post 30 times in 30 seconds” systems.

It’s convenient.
It’s fast.
But it all starts tasting the same.

Like pre-ground coffee ☕

Sure… it works.
But it’s missing something.

The businesses actually winning with AI aren’t just automating…
They’re strategizing.
They’re customizing.
They’re using AI to think better, not just post faster.

Because when everyone uses the same AI tools…
Differentiation disappears.

And in business, blending in is expensive.

I might be wrong though.

Driving in the Dominican Republic teaches you something fast…

It’s not about rules.
It’s about prediction.

You learn to anticipate before things happen.

That’s exactly what AI is trying to do.
Not replace humans — but recognize patterns faster than we can.

The real question is…
Can AI truly understand human instinct?

Agree or disagree?

Most businesses aren’t failing because they don’t have AI.

They’re failing because they implemented AI without a strategy.

And that’s actually more dangerous.

Because now you have:
• More tools
• More complexity
• More confusion
• And the same results

I see this everywhere.

Smart business owners adopting AI early…
Trying to move fast…
Investing in software…

But instead of scaling…
They create more friction.

The truth is:

AI multiplies whatever system you already have.

Bad system?
You scale chaos.

Good system?
You scale growth.

That’s why companies that win with AI don’t start with tools.

They start with:
• Clear workflows
• Defined outcomes
• Bottleneck identification
• Then automation

Strategy first.
AI second.
Scale third.

Right now, there’s a massive gap forming:

Businesses experimenting with AI…
And businesses operating with AI.

The second group is pulling ahead fast.

I’m opening a few AI Strategy Sessions for business owners that want to move from experimenting… to scaling.

If you’re serious about implementing AI the right way:

The same 3 things that make you faster on a bike… make you more money in business.

1️⃣ Going slower made me faster

When I first started riding, I pushed hard.
Tried to go fast.
Burned out quickly.

Then I started training differently.

I slowed down.
Stayed in the right heart rate zone.
Focused on endurance.

Suddenly… I could ride longer.
Further.
And ultimately… faster.

Same thing in business.

Most entrepreneurs:
• Launch too many offers
• Try too many channels
• Change strategy every week

They sprint… and burn out.

The winners move slower… but consistently.
And consistency compounds.

2️⃣ I stopped tracking speed… and started tracking heart rate

Speed lies.

Wind changes.
Terrain changes.
Energy changes.

Heart rate tells the truth.

In business, revenue is speed.
It fluctuates.

But inputs are heart rate:

Your Business “Heart Rate” Metrics:
• Leads per day
• Sales conversations
• Offers made
• Follow-ups sent

Track those… and growth becomes predictable.

3️⃣ Consistency beats intensity

One hard ride doesn’t change anything.

But 30 rides do.

Same in business:

• One viral post won’t build your company
• One big deal won’t create stability
• One good week won’t scale you

Daily execution wins.

Always.

I’m seeing this across every business I work with:

The ones who win aren’t the fastest…

They’re the most consistent.

If you’re trying to grow your business and want help identifying your business heart rate metrics…
