**This is NOT an actual Oklahoma drill, just knew it would get your attention 😏

One thing I’ve noticed from game situations is that in the run game as a receiver you sometimes don’t know where the DB is going to go, sometimes he might try avoiding you or if he’ll just try to run you over. I like this drill because you have to run, get your head around fast, locate the DB and then use your technique (read and react)

In a game, receivers don’t always get to run the route exactly how it’s drawn on the whiteboard. Defenders move, quarterbacks scramble, and plays break down.

That’s why i enjoy adding reaction drill into my training

As the receiver works the curved path, they’ll hear me call “BREAK!” At that moment, they must:

Decelerate under control
Open their hips efficiently
React to an unexpected cue
lWork back toward the opposite sideline
Track and finish the catch

The goal isn’t just running routes.. It’s teaching receivers to process information, change direction quickly, and make plays when things don’t go according to plan.

The best receivers aren’t just fast. They’re able to react fast

I’ve seen talented players hurt their teams because they couldn’t put the team before themselves.

You don’t have to be the best player, the loudest leader, or even a starter to be a GREAT teammate.

But you do have to understand that your attitude, effort, and energy affect the guys around you.

The best teammates make the people around them better, even when things aren’t going their way.

And remember, being a bad teammate today doesn’t mean you can’t become a great one tomorrow.

One day you’ll realize it wasn’t just about the wins, touchdowns, or Friday night lights.

It was the bus rides, the locker room jokes, the practices you complained about, the teammates who became brothers, and the feeling of representing your school every Friday night.

You might play football again after high school, but you’ll never get THIS version of football back.

So soak it all in. Take the pictures. Enjoy your teammates. Thank your coaches. And most importantly, leave everything you have on that field.

Because eventually, the lights turn off, the pads come off, and those Friday nights become memories.

Being coachable doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything your coach says, never make mistakes, or be a perfect player.

It means being willing to LISTEN, LEARN, APPLY, and GROW.

It means understanding that when a coach corrects you, they’re not always criticizing you. They’re trying to help you become a better version of yourself.

It means taking accountability instead of making excuses, asking questions when you don’t understand, and making a genuine effort to apply what’s being taught.

And as coaches, it’s our responsibility to create an environment where players feel comfortable learning, asking questions, and making mistakes.

There’s a reason my receivers don’t wear gloves at practice.

It’s not a punishment. It’s about developing confidence, concentration, and consistency.

I want my guys to trust their hands, not their equipment. Catching without gloves forces you to focus on the ball, watch it all the way in, and develop a better feel for the catch.

The goal isn’t to make catching harder. It’s to build habits that carry over to Friday nights.

Gloves are a tool, NOT a substitute for fundamentals.

Build the hands during the week. Trust them on game day
