The RE Collective unequivocally demonstrates its solidarity with Palestine and acknowledges the loss of lives endured in the pursuit of the fundamental rights to freedom. As an organization committed to promoting anti-racism, we firmly oppose all manifestations of oppression, particularly those perpetuated by systematic structures inside governmental entities on a global scale. For several decades, the Palestinian people have been subjected to various forms of  displacement, dehumanization, and prolonged genocide by the state of Israel, resulting in a diminished status of citizenship inside their own territories.

The state of Israel has been subjecting Palestinians to decades of tyranny, which continues to persist today. This has been facilitated by the support of the United States and other global powers with inadequate pushback from the taxpayers who are footing the bill. The genocide and apartheid in Gaza and other areas of occupied Palestine must be clearly opposed by everyone who identifies as an anti-racist or who adheres to anti-racist beliefs. Our collective liberation is linked and none of us are free until all of us are free from extremist governments.

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free”

Here are some organizations both local and national to support who are leading the charge to end U.S. involvement in these atrocities. @sjphtx @palestinianyouthmovement @dsa.houston by @therecollectiveorg

According to a recent article by the @houstonchron the University of Houston may cut 40% of its core curriculum, not electives, the classes every student has to take, after a new state law forced a review of what counts as “core.” Faculty are being asked to prove their courses aren’t “indoctrinating” students. The disciplines most at risk are those that teach power and liberation.

So we built a course that can’t be cut.

Savage Freedom: Black Women Resisting & Reimagining Power: a course rooted in reproductive justice, healing, and the legacies from Ruby Duncan to Megan Thee Stallion, taught with collective care and action in mind.

Enrollment is open now. Registration is on a sliding scale. Pay what you can or nothing at all. Closes Sept 6.

On Saturday, April 11, the Race Equity Collective will host The Legacy of Liberation, an evening honoring the ongoing work, courage, and collective power of Ukombozi fellows past and present.
This gathering is rooted in the idea of “the shoulders on which we stand.” It is a moment to recognize the lineage of anti-racist leadership within our community and to honor the alumni whose commitment, wisdom, and labor helped build what exists today.

Grounded in the theme “the shoulders on which we stand,” this event is an opportunity to witness and celebrate the courage, growth, and impact of Ukombozi fellows, alumni, and community allies. It is also a moment to reflect on what it takes to sustain anti-racist leadership over time, and to recognize the shared commitment that has carried this work forward for five years.

Whether you’ve partnered with us, supported our programs, or are part of the broader community committed to equity and justice, we hope you’ll join us in honoring both the people and the legacy behind this work.
