Mastering: here’s a little phone clip playing back ‘Bigfork’ by The Pettifoggers off their forthcoming LP that I’m mastering now. DIY recorded, studio mastered.

Ampex and all of its spun off subsidiaries have ceased their production of recording tapes, make its products and booklets like this a nice piece of history, now!

Nat’l Audio Co. does have some of the Ampex tape manufacturing machines being refurbished and recommissioned in their production workflow.

Tascam 58 reel-to-reel 8-channel 1/2” tape deck through the shop here for service, calibration, and tuning up this past week.

With help from Rick and all of the speciality equipment and test tape, we got this bad boy in tip top shape for Jesse Phillips @thesoftestbullet to have some fun with.

‘Brownie’ is a song and story off of Curly and Kate’s Montana Memories oral history folk album that was tracked here in 1989 by Rick Kuschel.

Preserving and resurfacing the rich history shared throughout, we’ve taken the original tapes and are digitally remastering them for a 2026 re-release of the albums, alongside an accompanying back stories and songbook written by Kate.

I love projects like this, and am excited about it!

‘Helena’s Millennium’ - VHS videotape clips in their raw, transferred glory: hiss, pops, and all. They’re not made like they used to be!

Sweet discovery here amongst my client’s personal videotape collection that I’m digitizing for them at the studio. Their children were a part of the making of this 15 minute documentary about Helena - Montana’s capital. What a great tape!

This tape is from sometime in the late 1990s. Made in part with support by @mthistoricalsociety. The original production here belongs to the respective owners.

Appreciate UM Athletics pulling me in to help out with sound at Washington-Grizzly stadium. We optimized the system this week, did a variety of tests, and ran a great gameday production for 25,000+ fans. 🔊 🏈

Shout-out to longtime Missoula sound engineer Jay Straw, and the entire UM crew - I’m happy to be a part of it! Go Griz!
