A special collaboration happened during the roll out of "A Feather and a Fork" earlier this year. Multimedia artist and fashion designer Joey Montoya of Urban Native Era created a limited apron inspired by the book cover--the purple that reflects the stain of blackberries and the yellow of roasted squash. Artistic collaborations with designers, muralists, and writers has been an important part of Crystal's work to uplift Indigenous voices.
When my aunt and I traveled to the Oklahoma Book Launch at the First Americans Museum, Crystal and Joey signed the apron for me. It's such a special keepsake among my collection of vintage and family aprons.

Did you know that one of the dishes in @crystalwahpepah ‘s A Feather and a Fork cookbook was inspired by a dish she ate at @floraandfaunasav? Served at a Supper Club was a light meringue cloud floating in peaches and crème anglaise. She created a recipe using her beloved berries and squash puree. **chef’s kiss**

Get started writing with @therefinerywrites I wanted to stretch my creative brain muscles, so I signed up for Amy Condon’s short story class. This was a new outlet for me and much different from documentary film or screenplays I’ve written in the past. We learned about the evolution of short stories and I had a great time workshopping with my classmates. Break free from the infinite scroll and try something creative with other humans. You’ll probably like it! taken in The Stacks Bookstore by @therefinerywrites
