I’m finally a doctor! My six-year journey at LIU has finally come to an end & I am filled with endless joy! 🥹

Mind if I flex a little? 😏

•160+ clinical volunteer service hours
•10 leadership positions
•4 years working with Walgreens as a pharmacy technician & intern
•4X Dean’s List
•3.4 cumulative GPA
•3 publications
•2 national honor societies
•2 presentations
•1 research project
•1 national committee appointment
•1st student in my program to complete an international APPE rotation in Nigeria
•Honors College graduate
•Presidential Scholarship/University Scholars Award Recipient
•United States Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Pharmacy Award Recipient

Chai! I have to thank my family, especially my parents, friends, cousins, co-workers, colleagues, mentors and just anyone who has wished me well and supported me in any way. It doesn’t go unnoticed and from the bottom of my heart I am truly appreciative. Of course I have to give the most thanks to God who blessed and sustained me from the moment I started until now.

This journey has not been easy at all. The loss of loved ones, stress of balancing multiple demands at once, sacrificing sleep and social events, thoughts of worthlessness and worry have taken their toll on me. I’ve failed, lost, cried & tried. But it’s by the grace of God that I’ve been able to pick myself up and pull myself together after every fall.

We spend so much of our day on a screen that I really think everyone needs at least one activity that pulls them completely away from it.

For me, that’s sewing.

When I’m drafting, cutting, pressing, or sitting at my machine, I’m actually focused on making something with my hands instead of constantly checking my phone. And the best part is that you end up with something you can actually wear. 👗

You don’t have to be an expert to start either. Most of us begin by learning one little skill at a time.

Can you tell which one looks more expensive? 👀

Same kaftan. Same fabric. Same sewing.

When I first started sewing, it was easy to think the “professional” look came from expensive fabric or fancy equipment. But sometimes it’s the little things you do during construction that completely change the finished garment.

Pressing your seams as you sew is one of them. ✂️

A time was HAD! My first time attending the Sip N Slay Conference @everystylishgirl & I left feeling motivated & inspired. Seeing so many young women like me (who all looked amazing btw…) did something to my spirit. 🥹☺️

THIS is why I started sewing. Bc I love having a fresh fit for every outing. Guess that’s my toxic trait 🤷🏽‍♀️😆
