Gardner’s Leaf-toed Gecko (Asaccus gardneri)

Did you know Gardner’s Leaf-toed Geckos are found naturally only in the UAE and Oman, making it a Hajar Mountain endemic rather than a widespread desert gecko. It is a specialist of the UAE's rocky Hajar landscape—waiting until darkness falls before emerging onto the boulders and wadi walls to hunt.

Walking through the remains of ancient lives etched into the peaks of the Hajar Mountains. These stone walls, old mud pots, and grinding stones tell a story of resilience from generations ago. But the wildest part? Look closely at the rocks making up these ruins—they are embedded with ancient marine fossils, a reminder that what is now a mountain peak was once the ocean floor. 🌊🐚

History living above the clouds.
