Grateful to appear on rolandsmartin Unfiltered the other night for the first time with my wife, Kenetha, to represent the amazing work we get to do every day with young people from all over the city via the infinitycenter.org Youth Performing Arts Academy.

It’s a labor of love for sure, all contribution-funded, at no cost to the families of these young people, so it means a lot when the community from across the nation steps up to support and help us shine a light on the future.

Shout out to Brother Martin for showcasing African-American stories from all around the globe, and michaelimhotep for guiding a great interview. The Future is Now! by @therevjoc1

Some people tell me I’m smart from time to time. You don’t know intelligence unless you met my Dad. A 6th grade formal education, with the Wisdom of the Ages in his eyes and words. One of the greatest activities I have been blessed to host is “Corks & Conversations for Married Folks,” which is a -Date Night activity that will support spouses through the good and challenging times.

Friday night, we host another evening, and it’s open to all, with the only requirement being that you are married. Make a reservation, BYOB, and let’s dig in to some fun, games, and family support.

Share with any of your married friends. We’ve laughed with folks, healed with folks, and assured folks that they aren’t going insane. Let me know if we’ll see you on Friday:

Wise Elders are rare in this age; and no community can build generationally without their presence. Babu Umaru Jutte has blessed Nashville for decades: From establishing the Underground Railroad Nonprofit after school program, to expanding the celebration of Kwanzaa in Nashville and teaching/establishing the selection and installation of Queen Mothers. Movement, Meditation, Eastern Medicine—you name it, Baba Jutte has a lesson to share.

Join me this Sunday, Founders Day, at theinfinityfellowship at 10 am CST. Y’all know we kick off on time, so map out your Sunday for a great Gathering, learning lessons that will keep you growing for a lifetime.

The Queen has ascended.

Light a candle. My mother, Nashville’s Queen Mother Catherine Hayes Carr transitioned to The Ancestral Realm at 3:33 this morning after 93 years of handing out blessings. We all celebrate the love and joy she brought to us.

Keep us all lifted and give thanks for the shoulders you stand upon.

Over the weekend, I celebrated 14 years official with my partner in life, spirituality, family, community & more. Even as I practice making my own “luck,” I must admit, our circumstances were way beyond my control to orchestrate.

I give thanks for the Universe aligning our paths, and for surrounding us with a community of kindred spirit friends and family. Choose your folks carefully—they will either draw you closer together or pull you apart. It’s crucial.

Here’s to another year of riding ‘til the wheels fall off. And here’s to all who truly stand in the gaps for and with us. We got you, too! by @therevjoc1

What an epic, historic night, covering elections with the team of visionaries and geniuses assembled by rolandsmartin via the blackstarnetwork. What remains, less than 24 hours later, of 1 giant skillet of my Mama’s recipe cornbread, 2 chocolate chess pies (a fav of my Dad’s), and a from-scratch rum cake, the latter two from my wife. We won’t speak of the peach cobbler—nor will we note that we didn’t even have out of town family with us this year. by @therevjoc1
