Immensely proud of our alumni resident artist, Antonakis Christodoulou, for opening the exhibition Local Guys, curated by @kinamoeller at the Honorary Consulate of Greece in Winnipeg 🇨🇦🇬🇷✨

The exhibition features works he created during his residency in Kythnos, and we are excited to see his work continue to travel and reach new audiences. ✨

How to spend your summer on Kythnos, a Cycladic island, combining art, culture, and the priceless beauty of the Aegean landscape.

Odette Kouzou (aka @odette_kouzou) is a curator and art advisor, as well as the founder of Thermia Project, the residency art programme based on Kythnos. She currently works as a curatorial assistant and art advisor alongside Aphrodite Gonou, Contemporary Art Advisor at the Museum of Cycladic Art (@cycladic_museum), and was selected for the Whitechapel Gallery × NEON Curatorial Exchange Programme as an emerging curator in 2020.

Odette also curates the exhibitions at Myran Apenanti (aka @myrandesign) creating thoughtful visual dialogues between Scandinavian design and works by emerging Greek artists.

Wearing the Lesser Cyclades bracelet, she guides us along one of her favourite hiking trails on Kythnos, leading to the Thermia Project (@thermia_project) summer 2026 “Convivial Gestures”exhibition featuring works by @polinamiliou, @thekyveli and @yannis_malinakis. Along the way, she reflects on her deeply personal motivation for bringing contemporary art to the island where her grandfather was born and raised.

Odette is the first muse to introduce us to a Cycladic island through a jewel from the iconic CYCLADES collection by °’HRIAM.

Jewellery becomes heritage. Memory. An adornment that travels from one person to the next, carrying the stories of those who have worn it before.

A characteristic element of Yiannis Malinakis’ practice is the use of symbolism drawn from mythology, folk tradition, and local narratives. Through these references, the artist brings the past into dialogue with the present, composing images that connect memory, history, and the natural environment. During his stay in Kythnos, his research is enriched by new experiences and stories of the place, which are organically incorporated into his visual universe.

Last week to visit our exhibition Convivial Gestures, curated by @odette_kouzou , daily 19:00-22:00 at the Primary School of Chora, Kythnos ⛵️⛵️

The starting point of the artistic research lies in the practices of leisure, recreation, and social gathering that develop in both public and private spaces, such as meetings at the café, spontaneous gatherings in the alleys and squares, festivals, local celebrations, shared routes, moments of rest, music, and entertainment. These constitute forms of intangible cultural heritage that are transmitted experientially from generation to generation and continue to organise the daily life of the island. In a place where memory and tradition coexist with the contemporary conditions of island life, these practices function as carriers of collective identity, social cohesion, and shared experience.
