I am a big believer that when unwanted things happen to you, you have two options — you can either wallow in them and let them consume your life. Or, you can choose to alchemize them into something better. When I made the decision to go sober at the end of last year, I had zero clue that it would lead me down a road of finding so many answers about myself and my body, connecting me deeper to my intuition than ever before… and, accidentially having a drink that would send the internet into a frenzy.

Huge thank-you to @people for sharing my story and filing the world with more proof that everything truly does happen for a reason.

I want to be the type of woman who can write a short caption, but I was blessed with the gift of having too much to say. No short, quippy, one-liner can sum up the blatant irony that all of the layers of deep healing work and years spent in therapy led me back to the same starting point — myself. We spend our adolescent and adult lives searching for the threads of who we truly are. We try on aesthetics, personas, and modes of performance, because we think it’s who we need to be, in order to be loved, to be accepted, to find our place in this great big world. We buy a relentless amount of train tickets, desperate to get away from the place we’re at, only to realize that none of the other stops feel like home.

Earlier this year, I made the decision that I wanted to stop performing, and found that the answer to who I was lay no further than in my childhood self. The little girl who dreamed of nothing more than being a fairy and writing about love. I’m so happy to have found her again. Being her, feels like coming home. 🫂🪽

One of the best pieces of relationship advice I’ve ever heard is: “are you building a love story or a life story?” A love story is over as quickly as it began. But a life story… a life story is made with time, patience, dedication, and a willingness to forgive each other, time and time again.

The notion of “right person, wrong time,” is bullsh*t. And the reality is, most people would rather walk away from the relationship they truly desire than face the uncomfortable work required to make it work. Sometimes, part of building a life story is acknowledging that you need to grow into the person who can truly handle the relationship that you’re wanting. Remember that the grass isn’t greener on the other side - the grass is greener where you water it. ♡
