Happy birthday to the love of my life! 🥳

This is 53 or what I now call Level 5.3. 🥳

Yesterday, I celebrated another trip around the sun. Another year of proof that the best chapters get written after everyone assumes the story’s over.

Here are 53 things I’ve learned, re-learned, and reminded myself of at Level 5.3:

1. Reinvention isn’t a phase. It’s a practice.
2. The women who scare you a little are the ones worth learning from.
3. Rest is not the reward for productivity. It’s the requirement.
4. You don’t need permission to take up space.
5. The riskiest thing you can do at 50+ is play it safe.
6. Your nervous system keeps score even when your calendar doesn’t.
7. Momentum is more valuable than motivation.
8. The right room changes everything, so stop waiting to be invited.
9. Naming your worth out loud is a skill, not arrogance.
10. Perimenopause is a data-poor zone, and that’s a scandal, not a mystery.
11. You can be someone’s biggest fan and their honest critic.
12. Consistency compounds. Quietly, then all at once.
13. The people who “knew you when” don’t get to define who you are now.
14. Ask for the money. Then ask for a little more.
15. Grief doesn’t shrink. You grow around it.
16. Being underestimated is a strategic advantage. Use it.
17. Your body isn’t betraying you. It’s asking for a new agreement.
18. Attention is finite. Protect it like the asset it is.
19. Every “overnight success” has a decade you didn’t see.
20. Discomfort is the price of admission for a bigger life.
21. You can outgrow a version of yourself without resenting her.
22. The follow-up is where the magic actually happens.
23. Softness and ambition are not opposites.
24. Say the thing. The pause before it is worse than any answer.
25. Not everyone gets a front-row seat to your becoming.
26. Health is the wealth nobody warns you to invest in early enough.
27. A strong “no” makes your “yes” mean something.
28. The internet rewards the brave, not the perfect.
29. Community isn’t built in the good times. It’s revealed in the hard ones.
30. You’re allowed to change your mind about what you want.

I’ve been working out since I was 15. I’m 52, turning 53 next month. I always did strength training, HIIT, and cardio. I also started incorporating yoga at 40. When perimenopause hit, nothing worked. Two plus months into @swanbycarolina and I know this form of movement is different and I love it.
