Meet the band series: CINDY - lead vocals, guitar, flute

Multi-instrumentalist and bandleader Cindy Adzuki Chang is a founding member and Austin-based musician known for her intense, resonant timbre and expansive vocal range, merging classical training with a blues-tinged edge. She began her musical journey in grade school with piano and flute and later formally studied voice under Barry Scott Williamson, founder and artistic director of the Texas Bach Festival, developing a disciplined yet nuanced style shaped by her admiration for opera, jazz, and blues.

Active in the Austin music scene since the mid-2000s, Cindy was a member of goth-industrial group Lucid Dementia, appearing on their 2008 release Trickery, and performed with experimental electronica project Sick Muse. She also collaborated with ethereal goth act Mirabilis, contributing songwriting, flute, and lead vocals to their Sub Rosa album, including the notable track “The Journey,” dedicated to her late father.

Ever evolving musically, she continues her guitar studies under Thomas Metz (Tish & the Mizzbehavin, Major Thom and the Radiation). Cindy brings a commanding, immersive presence to every performance.

Meet the band series: BAKER - drums

Baker, a founding member, is a native Austin drummer who performs regularly across multiple local projects, including appearances at renowned venues such as the Cactus Cafe and Sagebrush. His energetic, enthusiastic style provides the rhythmic anchor for The Rubicon Crossing’s heavier, darker sound.

Baker balances steady timing with expressive fills, prioritizing feel, consistency, and how the drums best serve each song. Ongoing practice and instruction, including recent work with Rob Schumacher (LC Rocks), continue to shape his approach.

Meet the band series: Rutvik - guitar/bass/vox

You'll be seeing Rutvik on stage soon filling in for Alex!

Our newest addition to the live cast, Rutvik was first introduced to music via the alto saxophone, which he played throughout middle and high school. Concert band taught him two important things: (1) 7/8 time; (2) in a good arrangement, parts should serve the whole.

At 10, thanks to the 2007 Transformers movie, he became a huge fan of Linkin Park. So much so, that at 16, he was finally inspired to pick up the electric... and it was love at first strum. Bands like Linkin Park, Radiohead, The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, and
Coldplay were some of the earliest influences on what he liked in a guitar part.

In grad school, he started recording and mixing his own music, and he picked up the bass guitar to help with that. At the same time, he developed an interest in French house music
(e.g. Daft Punk and Justice) due to its hypnotic grooves, swung beats, and ample usage of hi hats; its influence has found its way into his original music.

Meet the band series: JOE - bass, guitar, bk vox

With roots in Florida and formative years in Seattle before landing in Austin, Joe brings a cross-country blend of influences to the stage. Early musical interests were shaped in an
unconventional way, winning Guitar Hero competitions in college before leveling up to real instruments in late-night Rocksmith sessions with friends in a Seattle basement.

Under the guidance of Andrew Dana and Jamey Simms at School of Rock, Joe developed a strong foundation in bass and ensemble performance. Frequently locking in with the drummer, he provides the backbone on bass and rhythm guitar, driving a sound grounded in hard rock with room for heavier tones. Not afraid to step up to the mic when needed, Joe has performed across multiple venues in Austin and continues to develop both stage presence and musical depth.

Meet the band series: BRETT - lead guitar

Brett’s musical foundation began as a child at the piano, his first instrument, before moving on to trumpet and tuba in middle school band. He later picked up guitar as a teenager, though mostly as a casual pursuit, spending more time noodling than performing and never joining a band in those early years.

After setting guitar aside for most of adulthood, and going several decades without even owning one, he eventually returned to the instrument with a renewed sense of purpose. In
2025, he took the stage with the Cedar Park School of Rock, marking his first experience playing with a band and the beginning of a new chapter as a musician.

He is currently studying guitar with Nathan Montgomery at Northwest School of Music, continuing to refine his playing and deepen his musicianship. Away from music, he enjoys running his skiff across the Texas coast and fishing the flats whenever he gets the chance.

What an incredible night at @saharaloungeatx sharing the stage with Dub Bones and @humanflowband. ❤️ Despite the sweltering heat and world cup playing, lots of folks came out to support us.

We need to give a special shout out to our special musical guest @digitalomer 🥁 from Movement Disorder who filled in for Baker who was traveling and to the amazing @felipemarpa from @near.strangers and @bender_bones from @velvetlabatx when we needed a bass sub last second. Truly professional musicians all around who were so much fun to work with.

Everyone worked hard for this performance and it truly showed. Looking forward to our next show. Rock on 🤘🔥!

Our cover of Led Zeppelin's What is and What Should Never Be was a huge hit that night. How could it not be? Brett's 🎸 solo was ❤️‍🔥and everyone worked so hard on this song especially @bender_bones from @velvetlabatx who has to learn the bass part in under two weeks. The audience was fantastic too!
