Every design comes with a conscious (or unconscious) awareness of what came before it. It doesn’t mean there’s a lack of originality, it’s quite the opposite. We challenge ourselves to be original despite knowing what came before us. I love that about design. I love thinking about all the time, thought and effort that went into creating something seemingly simple.

The sweetest little details on my tiny vintage Omega. Just look at the tiny applied omega symbol on the dial. Or the raised omega on the crown 🥹

That black spot isn’t a burn mark it’s the reflection of my hair on the watch!

The inner bracelet is made of silver toned links, they’re each hallmarked Speidel USA which sounds like they may be some type of silver-tone finish hence the culprit.

Thank you Kathleen for your 25 years of service from 1944-1969. Gone are the days where you’d spend your career in one place, my longest stint at a bank was five years and even that felt long. There are little red splatters mostly on the right side of the engraving if you look closely. I think it’s red nail polish, looks like Kathleen and I had a love of red nails in common. by @therubyhour

It breaks my heart to know that sellers used to melt down these tiny vintage watches for the gold, then throw out the movements. Maybe they still do. But there has been interest in bringing back cocktail watches as evidenced with the Blancpain Ladybird.

And so begins the journey of the one-watch approach, starting with my vintage Omega with a manual wind movement and a tiny little applied Omega symbol on the dial. Tiny with a stretchy bracelet, it’s so easy to wear. I think I could wear it all year! But for now, a month. by @therubyhour

I met Bart at the Toronto Timepiece Show and the talented @furrywristabroad took a photo of us. This was under the guise that I wanted a photo to brag to a friend that owns a Grönefeld, thanks for being my excuse Jon. The truth is that I heard many good things about Bart and his daughter Lynn during the show and when I met them I could see why the watches are so exceptional. There is a mark that every creator puts on their creations, whether it’s watches or photography or gardening or cooking. And I don’t know how else to say it, but with Bart the watches and the watchmaker are intrinsically connected.

Kathleen impressed me as well, because of her knowledge of watches and her generosity in sharing it with us. Likewise with watchmaker Bradley Taylor who you can see in the background of the first photo.

Of all the different industry events I’ve gone to, all of the people I’ve shared time with to talk shop. I can’t think of a single one that is as humble and kind as the watch fam. Before joining Instagram, I’ve never been part of any kind of enthusiast community and I feel so lucky.❤️

How did I miss the Dennison launch of the ALD Mini?? Such a Myra watch. A good reason to attend in-person events as the algorithm no longer works. Often I get a dm sharing a vintage ladies watch that I fall in love with, then I reach out to the seller and it’s either sold or above my pretend budget. This watch gives the same vibe as a vintage watch due to the shape, size and stone dials, and priced at more of an entry level. The straps and bracelets are all interchangeable, you can even connect two watches to track two different time zones, so cool!

The only real question is which one would suit me more: opal mosaic or pink jade?

Wow.

I wouldn’t know what to say or write about this watch, it’s beyond my comprehension. I’ve only ever seen pictures of Grönefeld watches so to see them in the metal made me speechless. The watch in the center is the 1941 Quadrivium. Is it odd to say it looks so wearable despite being so incredibly complex in its functions? What a treat to see it in person and Bart is so incredibly humble and nice!

New to this year’s Toronto Timepiece Show was the Artisanal Horology space where I was in absolute awe of Beauregard, created by Montreal born Alexandre Beauregard. Alexandre’s son was so kind to show me the Lili, an 18k rose gold rectangular timepiece with mother of pearl flower and diamond dial, diamond bezel, and diamond lugs. The strap is a perfect satin with leather inserts. For the Lili he chose a crownless design with a single monopusher on the caseback.

The dials on all of the Beauregard watches are three dimensional, whimsical and incredibly beautiful. I could not stop staring.

With fall comes another @torontotimepieceshow To Jason, Geraldine and team congrats on another amazing weekend ahead!
