Lighting candles for my beloved Rusty, whom I lost to cancer 5 years ago today, keeping his flame burning forever. Grief never ends but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay.Grief is not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love. The videos of Rusty and baby Freddie Purcury are everything I needed on his birthday today. Rusty was dying of hemangiosarcoma. He was six months past his vet expectancy here. His days were numbered, but he spent every minute for the next 6 months living his best life, loving his new baby brother, and taking care of me- hiking, swimming, and snuggling me, smiling through it all. Rusty taught me patience and understanding. He taught me to live in the moment. He taught me what true and unconditional love was. He made me who I am. I am forever grateful I got to be mom. ❤️‍🩹🐶🐾 by @therustydodge
