Owning Your Story. Empowering Your Community.

Last week, the San Antonio Women’s Chamber of Commerce Foundation (https://sawomenschamber.org/foundation) hosted its annual Trailblazers Scholarship Brunch, a fundraising event supporting educational opportunities for non-traditional college students in our community.

Through the Lila Cockrell and Rosemary Kowalski Scholarships, the SAWCC Foundation partners with Alamo Colleges and Texas A&M University–San Antonio to empower students pursuing their degrees while balancing work, family, and education.

We were honored to hear from Jacqueline De Leon, a biology student at Northwest Vista College (@northwest_vista_college) and Lila Cockrell Scholarship recipient, who shared her inspiring story. We also celebrated fellow scholarship recipients Maiwand Jalak, Ogechi Ohaegbu, Lindsey Shipman, and Tanatha Villar.

Keynote speakers Dr. Lorraine Pulido (FirstDay Foundation), and Janie Martinez Gonzalez (WebHead) brought the program’s theme to life by sharing their personal stories and how they are using their experiences to empower our community.

Everything we do at the San Antonio Women’s Chamber builds toward a single purpose: creating pathways for women to transform their lives through education.
